Tonight's women's basketball game between Maryland and Delaware is a sellout, according to a tweet from Kevin Tresolini, the outstanding University of Delaware beat writer for The (Wilmington, Del.) News Journal. So, if you were planning to make the drive up I-95 and buy tickets at the gate, you're out of luck. The Bob Carpenter Center holds 5,000 people, and the return of All-American first-team pick Elena Delle Donne tonight probably helped the Blue Hens sell out. Playing a Top 10 team in the No. 9 Terps didn't hurt.

I found your article and interview with Justin Sausville ("'Jeopardy!' champ Justin Sausville, the only question is how long he will have to keep his results a secret," Aug. 15) to be both entertaining as well as enlightening. My enlightenment comes from the fact that Justin and his wife will be moving to Delaware, yet he will be on staff at a Maryland hospital. I read that neither he nor his wife is from Delaware. Delaware certainly isn't more beautiful than Cecil County, especially the waterfront areas around Northeast.

Johns Hopkins' first midfield got its first goals of the season, but pardon juniors John Ranagan and John Greeley and sophomore Rob Guida if they decline to celebrate. Ranagan and Guida each scored in the No. 2 Blue Jays' 8-6 win against No. 18 Delaware at Homewood Field in Baltimore on Tuesday evening, but the first line continues to struggle with its shooting. Ranagan went 1-for-6, Guida - who added an assist - was 1-for-4, and Greeley went 0-for-3. For the season, Ranagan is 1-for-14, Guida is 1-for-8, and Greeley is 0-for-7.

Three years ago, attackman Eric Smith chose Ohio State over the University of Delaware because he wanted a university much bigger than the high school he attended, Boys' Latin. Delaware head lacrosse coach Bob Shillinglaw thought there might have been another reason. Smith's older brother, Alex, played for the Blue Hens and became one of the top face-off specialists in the history of the college game from 2004-2008. Maybe the younger Smith wanted to escape his brother's shadow.

Don't worry about tax fairness, just be happy you have jobs That was state Comptroller Louis L. Goldstein's message to Marylanders who work in Delaware and pay income taxes there.Delaware, which would lose a net $20 million in income tax from Marylanders, has no interest in a tax reciprocity agreement that would allow workers to pay taxes only in the state where they live. As Maryland lacks any legal clout, Delaware has no incentive to even discuss it.Cecil County has pressed unsuccessfully for a county tax authority to remedy the issue, on behalf of 11,000 county residents (out of nearly 18,000 Marylanders)

An Edgewood woman reported on the Aberdeen Proving Ground Facebook page Tuesday hearing three loud blasts, and another woman who lives in Delaware said she felt three loud explosions. They were among several people who complained about blasts from planned detonations at the Harford County military testing base that rocked the area about 6 p.m. Proving ground spokesman George Mercer said he was still trying to calm fears and explain the tests two hours afterward, though the explosions were held in "a remote part of APG. " He said the military installation can cause noise a variety of ways, including firing guns testing armor and detonating charges, but officials usually try to notify residents ahead of time.
