PGA professional David Hutsell of The Elkridge Club in Baltimore qualified for the 2010 PGA Championship after finishing in the top 20 on June 30 at the PGA Professional National Championship at French Lick (Ind.) Resort. Hutsell, 39, will be competing in his first PGA Championship, which runs Aug. 12-15 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis. Horse racing Maryland Racing Commission adds Quade Bruce Quade , 65, of the Eastern Shore was introduced at the Maryland Racing Commission's monthly meeting as the group's newest member. "Being on this commission is something I'm interested in, excited and passionate about," said Quade, who is semi-retired from the federal government, where he worked in intelligence and energy. He will serve a four-year term. … The commission will hold a meeting open to the public at 1 p.m. Wednesday to consider the application from Penn National subsidiary Prince George's Racing Ventures LLC for a racetrack license at Rosecroft Raceway.

In the weeks after he qualified for his first PGA Championship, The Elkridge Club's director of instruction, David Hutsell, received all kinds of advice from some of his fellow club pros. A few who had played in the PGA told Hutsell to make a visit to Whistling Straits well in advance of the tournament. "They told me it would take away the wow factor," said Hutsell, who recently went out to Kohler, Wis., for a couple of practice rounds. "It's enough to try to play the golf course, but with a tournament of this magnitude, there's a lot more going on than at a section event.
