He is also survived by two daughters-in-law Karin and Cheryl Davenport, five grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Friends may call at the Gary P. On February 27, 2004, ELWOOD "WOODY" DAVENPORT, JR., after a long illness, passed away peacefully at Manorcare Towson, beloved husband of Joanne (nee Vitak); father of Shelly German; brother of Mary Muller and Edward Davenport; and grandfather of three. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Friends and family are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Road (Perry Hall), where a memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 9, at 11 a.m. Please omit flowers.

Joel Sharpless Davenport, a retired business manager who was active in Masonic affairs, died of a brain hemorrhage Monday at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. The former Towson resident was 87. Mr. Davenport was born in Baltimore and raised on Jayne Avenue and Ridgewood Avenue in the city's Forest Park neighborhood. He was a 1937 graduate of Forest Park High School and studied accounting and business administration at the Johns Hopkins University's McCoy College. He enlisted in the Army Air Forces in 1941, served as an aerial photographer and was promoted to sergeant while serving in China, Burma and India.
