Ex-Dart president sues companyDart Group Corp., its chairman Herbert Haft and his son Ronald Haft, and other directors have been sued by Robert Haft, another Haft son and the company's former president, according to information filed with Delaware Chancery Court.The filing made Tuesday said Robert Haft charges the defendants with breech of fiduciary duty, waste of corporate assets, breech of contract, and dilution of shareholder voting rights.

Dart chairman wins rulingDart Group Corp. Chairman Herbert Haft, embroiled in a bitter family dispute, won a ruling yesterday to stop his wife and a son from dissolving partnerships, which could cause losses of up to $91 million.Washington District of Columbia Superior Judge Rufus King granted a preliminary injunction on a motion by Mr. Haft and son Ronald to stop a move by Mr. Haft's estranged wife, Gloria, and another son, Robert, to withdraw from 18 joint partnerships. Judge King said dissolutions of the ventures could result in loan defaults of $71 million to $91 million.

Dart Group Corp.This Landover-based retail organization, whose primary operations include Crown Books and Trak Auto Corp., reported that revenues increased, but earnings went down during its second fiscal quarter of 1991, compared with the same period a year earlier.Dart reported revenues exceeding $307 million for the second quarter of this year, compared with more than $266 million for the second quarter of 1990."The reduced level of earnings was due to the loss experienced in the first quarter by Trak Auto Corp," a company spokesman said.

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Robert Haft, former chairman of Crown Books Corp. and president of Dart Group Corp., testified yesterday that his father, Herbert, who fired him in June 1993, had told him virtually all his life that he would one day run the family-controlled business empire.The testimony came on the first day of a trial that moves the Haft family feud into open court, where Robert Haft is suing three companies controlled by his father.In his lawsuit in U.S. District Court here, Robert Haft says he was unjustly fired as president of Dart Corp.
