* The Yankees are en route to their second consecutive season with 90 losses or more. If they get there, it would be the first time since 1912-13 that the club has had back-to-back 90-loss seasons.* The Tigers went 0-6 at Cleveland Stadium this year -- a fact made more curious by the Indians' 19-46 home record against the rest of the league.* Todd Zeile leads the Cardinals with 11 home runs. That's the fewest to lead the club since Austin McHenry set the pace with 10 back in 1920.* Dodgers OF Darryl Strawberry hit 10 home runs against the Astros this year.

Quote: "The philosophy of the teams is they don't want the main guy like Mo [Vaughn] to beat them, so they pick on me." -- Troy O'Leary of the Red Sox, who hit a homer and later drove in the game-winning run in a 4-3 win over Oakland. He was 10-for-20 in a 6-0 homestand by Boston. It's a fact: Oakland turned 4-6-3 double plays against Boston in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.Who's hot: Darryl Strawberry of the Yankees. He hit a homer yesterday and is batting .400 (12-for-30)

The top candidates for Comeback Player of the Year: American League Cal Ripken (Orioles): Can he make it all the way back from surgery? Darryl Strawberry (Yankees): With Chili Davis gone, might return to prominence. Jay Buhner (Mariners): Prone to injury, but also prone to hit 45 homers if healthy. Sandy Alomar (Indians): Trying to shake off another painful season. Jim Edmonds (Angels): Still trade bait after injury-marred season. Steve Trachsel (Devil Rays): Losingest pitcher in major leagues last year.

Each year the baseball All-Star starters chosen by the fans generate controversy because of the mix between performance (Cal Ripken) and popularity (Darryl Strawberry). Aside from Strawberry, who has only 183 at-bats due to injuries, Mark McGwire (.201 average) and Sandy Alomar (.205) also made the starting lineups.Because of such questionable picks, we'd like to know if you think the process for choosing the starters should be re-examined.1) Should the fans pick the starters?2) Should the players, managers and coaches pick the starters?
