Astros: Darryl Kile failed to pitch at least seven innings for the second time in 31 starts. It was his shortest outing since going 3 2/3 innings in an 8-6 loss at Montreal April 30. Kile is 4-9 lifetime against the Giants, his most losses against any team.Athletics: Oakland had its seventh consecutive games with at least 10 hits.Cubs: Ryne Sandberg was a late scratch because of lower back spasms. The crowd of 25,523 raised the home season total to 2,004,160, the 11th time the team has topped 2 million in attendance.
