A Brookeville man was killed early yesterday when he was struck by a car while running across Route 175 in Jessup, Anne Arundel County police said. About 5:15 a.m., Glenn Allan James, 20, was crossing the highway in a dimly lit area near the Baltimore-Washington Parkway overpass when he was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by William J. Slifker Jr., 66, of Crofton, said police spokesman Sgt. Shawn Urbas. James suffered multiple fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, Urbas said.

A 65-year-old woman was robbed of her car yesterday afternoon as she parked it in front of her Northeast Baltimore home.Police said Mary Holloway, a resident of the 3300 block of Grenton Ave., was parking her silver 1985 Ford LTD shortly after 4 p.m. when a man wearing a baseball cap and dark clothing opened the driver's side door and pulled her out onto the pavement.Police said the man got into the car and drove off while the victim lay on the ground.The woman, who was not injured, ran into her house and called the police.

A man armed with either a knife or a screwdriver robbed a Pasadena gasoline station early yesterday, escaping with an unknown amount of cash, police said.The night manager of Ed's Shell, at Mountain and Jumpers Hole roads, told police the man walked quickly into the convenience store part of the service station about 12:45 a.m. and started bending down behind the front counter.The robber, who was wearing a nylon stocking over his head, pulled out what the manager described as a knife with a long blade or a screwdriver and demanded money.

An armed man used the drive-through window of Annapolis Bank and Trust in Severna Park Tuesday to steal an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.A teller told police the man drove up to the service window soon after 7 p.m., passed the teller a holdup note and showed her a semiautomatic handgun.The teller gave the man money and he drove south on Ritchie Highway, police said.The man was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, with a thick well-trimmed mustache. He was wearing dark clothing, a blue baseball cap and was driving a tan older-model Oldsmobile Cutlass or a Cadillac.

Baltimore County police were searching for two men who held up a credit union in Towson yesterday afternoon, a robbery that disrupted traffic near Towson Market Place and prompted lockdowns at nearby schools. Shortly after 1 p.m., two armed men wearing dark clothing and masks entered Central Credit Union in the 8500 block of LaSalle Road. They left with an undisclosed amount of money, police said. There were no reports of injuries or of shots fired. Police said they searched buildings in the 8500 and 8600 blocks of LaSalle Road but did not find the men. They also searched cars in the area.

A 42-year-old Pasadena woman was killed Friday evening when she ran into Annapolis Road and was struck by a car, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday. According to police, Mary Denise Weber of the 800 block of Swift Road abruptly tried to cross Annapolis Road just east of McKnew Road in the Gambrills area about 6:15 p.m. and was hit by an eastbound Volvo driven by Randall Kent Sisulak 57, of the 1700 block of Sinclair Lane in Crownsville. Police said Weber's sister-in-law was following her in a westbound car on Annapolis Road when Weber ran across the street for no apparent reason.

A Millersville woman died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday of injuries she suffered when she was hit by a southbound car on Ritchie Highway near Jumpers Hole Road.Debra Salomon, 46, of the 8200 block of Minton Court was pronounced dead shortly before 5 a.m., authorities said.Police said Salomon was crossing Ritchie Highway north of Jumpers Hole Road shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday when she stepped into the path of a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Edward L. Gardner, 40, of the 400 block of Idle Park Road in Severna Park.

Three armed men confronted a North Laurel man in a parking lot, forced him back into his apartment, woke his mother and siblings and robbed them early Friday, Howard County police said.Mark Ardila, 21, of the 9700 block of Mountain Laurel Way in North Laurel was not injured, nor were his family members, police said.The incident began about 4:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Country Meadows Apartments, where Mr. Ardila said three men in dark clothing approached and grabbed him.They took him back into his home and made him and his family wait in the living room while they robbed the apartment, then fled, police said.

Anne Arundel County police are searching for two men suspected of firing shots Tuesday night in the Freetown area and wounding a man. About 11:45 p.m., a man arrived at the Riviera Beach Fire Department after he was shot in the torso near Freetown Village and Fort Smallwood Road. The victim was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was treated and released. About the same time, occupants of another car traveling through the area reported being fired on by two men. No one in the car was hurt, but the vehicle had several holes from the gunfire.

A 61-year-old Ellicott City woman was in critical but stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore yesterday after she was struck by a car as she tried to cross busy U.S. 40 after dark Wednesday. Carol Anne Bowen of the 3300 block N. Chatham Road was hit at 6:37 p.m. just east of Plum Tree Drive as she tried to cross the highway while wearing dark clothing and without using a crosswalk or at an intersection, Howard County police said. She was flown to Shock Trauma by a state police helicopter.
