"Out at the Movies," a monthly series showcasing films with gay themes, makes its debut Tuesday at the Charles Theater with "Dani and Nico," director Cesc Gay's look at two teens figuring out their sexual identities over a summer at the beach. The film, in Spanish with English subtitles, stars Fernando Ramallo and Jordi Vilches as Nico and Dani, best friends who until now have had the majority of their sexual experiences with each other -- an arrangement that sits fine with Dani, but not so well with Nico, who clearly wants to experience some of that guy-girl sex he's been hearing so much about.

Remember when Daenerys Targaryen was just a little girl afraid of her older (loser) brother? My, how times have changed. In “Valar Dohaeris,” the Season 3 premiere of HBO's “Game of Thrones,” Daenerys is looking more and more like the queen ascendant. I view this as a very good development, because (aside from Arya Stark and possibly Tyrion Lannister) the fair-haired Targaryen girl is my favorite character in “A Song of Ice and Fire,” the George R.R. Martin books on which the TV show is based.

Dani Mazzilli is talking on the phone and the melodic b-l-i-i-n-n-g-g in the background betrays the fact that she is also online, instant-messaging someone else. Suddenly, her cell phone rings, adding to the chorus, and she interrupts two conversations to begin a third with one of her three teen-aged children. Yes, she will bring the equipment bag to school that the child left at home that morning. She will be at school anyway, she says, working on the '70s dance. "Now where were we?"

THE KEY TO getting into this year's postseason may be found in the most foreign of places for baseball success: Tampa Bay. Really. The Devil Rays have lost 90 or more games in each of their first seven seasons and are on pace for their third 100-loss season. But they may decide which teams make the playoffs, and not just because they have befuddled the New York Yankees this year. As the July 31 trading deadline nears, this much is certain: The 2005 trade market is filled with more buyers than sellers.

Dani Kell never thought much about playing any basketball position other than guard. Even as the Roland Park senior grew to be 6 feet tall, she spent almost all of her time in the backcourt through her recreation years. That experience turned Kell into a strong ballhandler who could drive to the hoop or hit from the perimeter, in addition to rebounding and posting up against smaller guards. Today, Kell plays the same kind of game as an All-Metro guard for the No. 2 Reds (13-2), who play No. 12 IND tonight at 8:30 at Villa Julie College.

Kevin Millar, Orioles designated hitter Who is the best-dressed Oriole off the field? Danys Baez. Most of the Cuban guys have the most class. Livan Hernandez always had the best style. I don't know what they have in Cuba. I don't know if it's Little Havana or what they got. But the boys know how to dress in Cuba and Danys Baez is keeping that tradition going.

Danys Baez didn't pitch well in yesterday's intrasquad game, but he seemed pleased with the way he threw, probably because he was pleased he could throw at all after coming up sore after his first exhibition start. ( For more, go to baltimoresun.com/schmuckblog)

Early in spring training, pitching coach Rick Kranitz said he had a "sleeper" for the rotation. I'm pretty sure the guy he had in mind was Danys Baez, but I bet if you forced him to make a prediction right now, it would be Brian Bass. ( For more, go to baltimoresun.com/ schmuckblog)
