PRINCETON, N.J. -- Duke scored seven unanswered goals in the third quarter to turn a close game into a rout as the No. 2-seeded Blue Devils defeated Cornell, 11-8, in an NCAA Division I quarterfinal game yesterday. By the time Duke (16-2) finished its seven-goal barrage, the Blue Devils had an 11-3 lead going into the fourth quarter as the sun began to set on Princeton Stadium and Cornell's season. The Blue Devils scored on fast breaks, settled and extra-man situations. Who scored for Duke during the third-quarter stretch run?

Attackman Bobby Griebe hadn't played in a lacrosse game with major implications since May 2002 when he helped Boys' Latin win the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title, but there was certainly no rust evident last night. Back in action after sitting out the spring as a redshirt at Towson University, Griebe scored four goals and added an assist as the United States opened the International Lacrosse Federation Under-19 World Championships with a 16-6 victory over Australia before 925 at Minnegan Field at Towson Stadium.
