The dish: turkey and cheddar wrap The popular Charles Street mainstay, David and Dad's, has opened a cafe inside the Enoch Pratt Free Library 's Southeast Anchor branch in Highlandtown. The Highlandtown location has nothing like the full menu at the restaurant's 334 N. Charles St. digs or the Express shop at 1 N. Charles St. The library location is stocked with meals prepared at the parent shop and really feels more like what it's meant to be: a quick-stop coffee shop.

I grew up around the Northwood section of Baltimore back in the 1950's. My father was a cable splicer in the underground division of the Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. They were the days before "bucket"' trucks. My dad and his crew worked down manholes with city rats and climbed telephone poles with cleats and pole straps. When we had any storm outages, I can remember many times when I would not see my dad for a week or more. He would work 16 hours a day, go back to the shop to sleep on a cot for a few hours, and hit the street again.

LEXINGTON, Ohio - When Graham Rahal drives into the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, all he can think of is family. His grandfather, Mike, raced here in the 1960s, his father , Bobby, the 1986 Indianapolis 500 winner, raced here in the late 1970s. "My favorite memory is when I won the 2005 Sports Car Club of America National Championship in the Formula Atlantic Series here exactly 30 years from the time dad won that same series championship here," said Graham Rahal, who now drives for Chip Ganassi Racing.

(Update : Looks like Michael Lohan doesn't have a place in Baltimore to promote "Celebrity Rehab 5" after all. Mosaic, where he had been scheduled to appear with Octomom Nadya Suleman abruptly canceled the event Tuesday, said spokesman and general manager Vincent Martinez. Goodlife Boys, which was promoting the event, also backed out Tuesday.) Michael Lohan will promote his stint on "Celebrity Rehab 5" with, what else, a party at a Baltimore club. Call it another success story for the addiction show and Dr. Drew Pinsky's counsel. A rep for Lohan said the tabloid nuisance isn't actually in recovery because he didn't go on the show for alcohol or drug addiction treatment.

My dad spoke Kid — even Adult Kid. He knew that in challenging times, an "I'll be OK" from my brother or me really meant, "Stick with me. " Even when unsure of exactly what to do, he would just show up. I do not mean he would move in or plant on our couch — I mean that he would help us come up with a game plan, and then call every three hours even if just to say, "I love you. " In Kid, these calls translated into: "You are not alone. " He practiced the gospel of the "FUNdamentals," as he wrote the term he preached from our first lacrosse toss in the backyard and through his team dad years.

This past weekend, my family and I went to eat a nice meal at the Columbia lakefront. Upon exiting the ladies room, I observed a man wandering around the area near the bathrooms with a baby in his arms. He looked perplexed, so I asked if I could help him. He stated that he needed to change his baby's diaper but there were no diaper-changing facilities in the men's bathroom. I was aghast at this, but when I asked my husband, he confirmed that a large number of men's bathrooms have no diaper-changing facilities in them.

After he and his wife separated in 2007, Bruce Jordan, 37, entered a long custody battle for one of their children, Matthew, an active 7-year-old who loves watching "SpongeBob SquarePants" and other cartoons. The father of seven children in all, Jordan, who lives in East Baltimore, says he felt he had been too absent from the lives of his other kids. "As far as my son, I wanted to make a difference," Jordan said on a recent afternoon, clutching a water bottle and looking relaxed in a Nike T-shirt and jeans.
