The Rev. Peter Caputo, an ex-police officer from Michigan who is nowan Anglican priest in Crownsville, has become Crofton's part-time covenant enforcement officer.The well-known priest, who serves up advice to people from his morning spot at Chic and Ruth's deli on MainStreet in Annapolis and who spends time listening and handing out money to people in need, started the job two weeks ago.He roams the streets of Crofton once a week, answering complaintsabout residents who may be violating their agreements with the community by putting up satellite dishes, parking boats in their drivewaysor committing one of many other possible infractions.

The Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church in Crofton celebrated its 25th anniversary yesterday with the dedication of five new Sunday school classrooms.The classrooms and other renovations added 4,000 square feet to the church, which also is used as a neighborhood center for the Boy Scouts, Alcoholics Anonymous and the Crofton Association for Retired People.The Rev. Leonard Dahl, the first pastor, and many of the church's 118 original members recalled the congregation's pioneering days as the first church in the Crofton triangle between Maryland routes 3, 424 and 450.Pat and Jim Giffen, who helped celebrate the groundbreaking for the sanctuary in 1975, moved to Rehoboth Beach three years ago but were drawn back yesterday by fond memories.

Millersville man named to board of Social ServicesMillersville resident Paul Kim has been appointed to the Social Services Board of Directors, County Executive Robert R. Neall has announced.The board of directors advises and evaluates the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services and reviews and recommends annual funding needed for public assistance programs in the county.Mr. Kim's term will end June 30, 1996. Mr. Kim, a graduate of Han-Yang University in Seoul, South Korea, served in the Republic of Korea Army from 1951 to 1963.

The Crofton Civic Association is looking for candidates for its board of directors.All seats on the nine-member board are open. The election has been scheduled for May 20.Residents of the Crofton Special Benefit Tax District can pick up nomination forms for the four officer positions and five neighborhood-director positions at the Town Hall, 5676 Crofton Parkway.The forms must be filled out and returned no later than March 30. The civic association has scheduled a candidates' forum for May 13.For more information, call 410-721-2301.

There were plenty of hot cars to match the weather at the third annual Corvettes & Classics Fun Show last weekend at the Village of Wauch Chapel Center in Crofton. Besides the Chevrolat sports cars, several makes of classic cars and street rods made before 1982 were on display. Vendors and music helped fill out the day's activities.

Crofton officials have until Jan. 31, 1995, to obtain legal authority to spend tax money on its controversial community counselor program.County Executive Robert R. Neall's budget bill, submitted yesterday, includes $563,979 for the Crofton special tax district, on the condition that none of the money is used for the counselor after Jan. 31, unless the County Code is amended to specifically authorize the program.The community counselor provides free psychological help to Crofton residents.

What kind of weather did Crofton have last week?Since I spent the week as a beachcomber, I can only venture a guess based on the look of my front and back lawn.I'd say you must have had a lot of rain, as my lawn, which was was short and very brown when I left, is now green and too long.At least someone else (son Kevin) has to cut it.*Al-Anon, a fellowship of people who know the devastation of alcoholism, holds meetings at 8:30 p.m. each Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1370 Defense Highway, or at 8:30 p.m. Fridays at Prince of Peace Church on Crofton Parkway.
