One man was critically injured and three others were displaced from their homes after a two-alarm fire burned through a Crownsville home that had been converted into separate apartment units, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Firefighters responded to a report of a dwelling fire in the 1300 block of Generals Highway just before 6:30 p.m. to find the home almost 50 percent engulfed in flames, said Capt. Michael Pfaltzgraff, a department spokesman. Firefighters began "an aggressive fire attack and also became aware that there may be a victim still in the house," Pfaltzgraff said.

A Severn man was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in critical condition Thursday morning after a vehicle struck him in Brooklyn Park and kept going, Anne Arundel County police said. Police said that Michael J. Diegel, 57, was struck in Ritchie Highway's northbound lanes at Camrose Avenue. A caller reported the hit-and-run accident around 12:37 a.m., police said. Police said paramedics treated him at the scene and then took him to Shock Trauma. A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was northbound when it struck Diegel, who apparently was wearing dark-colored clothing and not walking in a crosswalk, police said.

Four people were injured Friday night in a drive-by shooting in central Baltimore, leaving a female victim in critical condition, police said. Two teenagers, a man and a female of unknown age were shot at about 7:10 p.m. in the 300 block of Bloom Street in the Madison Park neighborhood, according to police. Several people in a dark-colored van drove up to the victims, who were sitting in front of a residence, stopped the vehicle and opened fire, police said. The shooters then fled the scene in the van, police said.

Police said a man was fatally stabbed Saturday morning in a domestic dispute, a killing that occurred the morning after two unrelated overnight shootings that injured five. Officers were called to the 700 block of N. Rose St., in East Baltimore, at about 8:40 a.m. and found a man who had been stabbed in the torso during a dispute, police said. Sgt. Anthony Smith, a police spokesman, said detectives were consulting with prosecutors and would not say whether the stabbing occurred in self-defense, but a police official said a female suspect who was taken into custody had been released pending further investigation.

A 32-year-old man operating his vehicle as a taxi was shot in the torso during a robbery by a passenger while driving in the 1300 block of N. Central Avenue in East Baltimore on Thursday night, according to Baltimore Police. Police responded to the scene in the city's Oliver neighborhood about 8:42 p.m. The man was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, said Sgt. Anthony Smith, a police spokesman. Police believe the man was shot after the passenger, or multiple passengers, attempted to rob him as he drove, Smith said.

A collision Tuesday evening in Pasadena has left a 46-year-old motorcyclist hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Police found James Lloyd Geiser of Glen Burnie lying in the roadway shortly before 7 p.m. at the accident scene. The crash occurred at the intersection of Fort Smallwood and Solley roads, near Riviera Beach. The victim had been driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Fort Smallwood Road, when he attempted a left hand turn onto Solley Road. The victim failed to yield the right of way to southbound vehicles and turned into the path of a Ford Escort, which struck the motorcycle, police said.

Baltimore police officers found a woman lying in a Baltimore side street shortly after sunset Friday. She had been shot in the head. The woman, whom police have not yet identified, is listed in critical condition and is being treated at a nearby hospital. Officers found the woman lying in the 300 block of E. 26 t h St. about 7:05 p.m., according to Sgt. Anthony Smith, a spokesman for the Baltimore City Police Department. Witnesses reported seeing a black man wearing a red and black jacket with a white hat running south on Guilford Avenue after the shooting.

A man was found shot early Saturday in the 400 block of N. Collington Ave., near the Butcher's Hill and Patterson Place neighborhoods, police said. Around midnight, an officer on foot near the 2200 block of Jefferson Street approached as an unidentified person was shooting at a 30-year-old man, police said. Pulling his own gun, the officer ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, police said. The suspect instead turned and fired at the officer, who shot back without appearing to hit the suspect, police said.

Annapolis police are investigating a double shooting Sunday night that has left one victim in critical condition. Officers responded to a report of a shooting at 11:30 p.m. to Medgar Evers Street near Frederick Douglas Street in the Eastport Terrace neighborhood. They found two adult men suffering from gunshot wounds. The 22-year-old victim, who was shot in the head, back and buttocks, was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and remains in critical condition. The other victim, 27, was shot in the back.
