A 51-year-old Edgewater woman remains in critical condition, after she ran into the road Wednesday and was struck by a pickup truck. Susan Blanchard Harris is being treated at University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Pedestrian error is the primary cause of the accident that occurred at 6:19 p.m. near the intersection of East Central Avenue and West Shore Road in Edgewater, police said. A Ford F-150 truck traveling east in the far right lane of East Central Avenue, within posted speed limits, could not avoid hitting the victim, police said.

A Maryland man is in critical condition after a house fire in Oxon Hill that caused more than $50,000 in damage. A Prince George's County fire official says firefighters were called to a home in the 5100 block of Boulder Drive around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters evacuated an approximately 50-year-old man from the home. He was taken to the hospital with burns smoke inhalation injuries. The man's wife was also taken to the hospital with symptoms of smoke inhalation. Officials say she is in fair condition. Investigators believe the cause of the fire may be a kerosene space heater.

A reserve freshman quarterback on the Navy football team is in a Miami, Fla., hospital in critical condition after he was injured in a single-vehicle accident Thanksgiving night. According to a report Sunday in the Annapolis Capital , Ralph Montalvo was put in a medically-induced coma after being transported to the Kendall Regional Medical Center. Navy athletic spokesman Scott Strasemeier said Sunday night that he received a text message from Montalvo's family saying that "he showed more improvement today" but that he remains in the medically-induced coma.

One person was killed and two were critically injured after they were struck by vehicles in three separate incidents in Anne Arundel County on Monday and Tuesday, according to county police and fire officials. About 2 p.m. Tuesday, emergency personnel responded to the northbound lanes of the Baltimore Washington Parkway, near its intersection with Route 100 in the Arundel Mills area, for reports of an injured pedestrian, according to Battalion Chief Steve Thompson, a county Fire Department spokesman.

State Police said Sunday evening that they have arrested and charged a Carroll County man in connection with the shooting of his apparent girlfriend this morning. Maryland State Police investigators have charged William R. Brueckmann, 26, of the 6800 block of John Pickett Road, Woodbine, with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and felony gun charges. He is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.

Howard County detectives are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information that helps identify two masked men they say shot a Columbia Taco Bell manager early Sunday. Gary M. Graham, 42, of Columbia, remains in critical condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after he was shot multiple times. Just after midnight, Graham and another employee had walked outside of the fast-food chain restaurant on the 7100 block of Minstrel Way to confront a suspicious person when police say two masked men appeared near a trash bin. One fired at Graham, who was struck several times in the torso.

A 70-year-old woman was critically injured Friday when she lost control of her SUV and the vehicle rolled over in Lothian, Anne Arundel County police say. Audrey Ann Gray, of Edgewater, was traveling west on Bayard Road near Polling House Road in a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox about 2:30 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road, police said. The vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway before going up a slight embankment, and then hit a tree and overturned onto its roof.

Two people were injured, one critically, in a crash Friday on Route 100 in Hanover, police say. Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a 2007 Honda Accord driven by Mary Catherine Kroder, 48, of Ellicott City, was stopped for traffic in a westbound lane of Route 100 near Arundel Mills Boulevard, police said. A 2000 Volkswagen Passat driven by Ryan Abbott Scott Albright, 26, of Elkridge, was traveling in the same direction and failed to stop for traffic, striking the back of Kroder's Honda and pushing it into the left guardrail.

Baltimore police have identified a 55-year-old woman found stabbed inside her home in Pigtown and said a man who was driven to the hospital by a friend after being shot in Southwest Baltimore has died from his injuries. Deborah Simon was found by relatives inside a home in the 1200 block of Washington Blvd. on Monday afternoon, and police said she had been stabbed several times. Property was taken from the home, and detectives are exploring whether she might have known her attacker.
