A 17-year-old boy remained in critical but stable condition last night after being shot in the stomach soon after a fight broke out at a Glen Burnie party Saturday night.The youth, from the 100 block ofSt. James Drive in Glen Burnie, was taken to North Arundel Hospital early yesterday morning after the shooting, which occurred in the 600block of Binsted Road.Another juvenile was charged with assault with intent to murder and using a handgun in committing a felony, police said.During theSaturday night party, a fight broke out between a guest and the host, the juvenile son of the property owner.

Four people were shot in less than 24 hours, Baltimore police said on Tuesday. A woman remains listed in critical but stable condition at a local hospital after she was shot in the 1800 block of East Federal Street in the Broadway East neighborhood, shortly after midnight early Tuesday, police said. About 11 p.m. Monday, police found a man with a gunshot wound to the lower back and buttocks in the 1300 block of Booth Street. Police said the shooting occurred about a block away in 1300 block of Hollins Street in the Union Square section of West Baltimore.

Two men were critically injured in a single-vehicle accident last night on northbound Interstate 95 near Elkridge, state police said. Sgt. Charles Moore of the state police's Waterloo barracks said Jacen Keith Drummond, 19, of the 8200 block of Brattle Road in Pikesville was speeding in a 1995 Ford Expedition in the passing lane of I-95 just north of the Interstate 895 overpass. Moore said Drummond lost control of the vehicle about 8:40 p.m., entered the middle lane and overturned on the shoulder.

Baltimore Police Sgt. Keith Mcneill, who was off duty when he was ambushed and shot multiple times Friday night, was in critical but stable condition Monday, while his alleged shooter is expected to have a bail review hearing Tuesday. Mcneill was sitting in his car outside a friend's auto repair shop in the 1900 block of Belair Road when the shooting occurred. Police quickly identified 34-year-old Gregg Thomas as a suspect, and on Sunday, Thomas turned himself in to face charges of attempted murder.

Two men were killed and two others were injured in separate accidents early yesterday in Baltimore County, police said. Randy Koller, 24, of the 1300 block of Sanfield Road in Baldwin was killed in a 2 a.m. accident on Hillen Road near Dogwood Lane, police said. Koller was the rear-seat passenger in a Ford F-250 pickup truck that swerved across Hillen Road, hit a utility pole and then a tree, police said. The driver, Richard Maliszewski, 28, of the 8500 block of Harford Road in Parkville, was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Two people were critically injured yesterday when they were struck by Mass Transit Administration rail cars in separate incidents -- one of them an apparent suicide attempt, officials said.In Baltimore County, a 51-year-old man jumped in front of a train at the Old Court Metro Station about 11:45 a.m., said MTA spokeswoman Dianna Rosborough. He was in critical but stable condition last night at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, the hospital said.In the city, Eva M. Schaefer, 63, was hit by a northbound Central Light Rail train at the Westport station about 4 p.m. Ms. Rosborough said the woman -- whose condition was described as critical and unstable -- had stepped off a southbound train and was walking across the tracks.

Worker critically hurt in fall from ladderA Silver Spring man who was repairing siding on an Odenton house fell from an 18-foot extension ladder Tuesday, suffering head and other injuries, county police said yesterday.Leonel Eduardo Martinez, 46, of the 700 block of Langley Drive, was in critical but stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center yesterday with a fractured skull and broken bones in both arms and wrists.Police said Martinez, who works for a Laurel construction firm, was climbing the ladder at a house in the 2200 block of Indian Summer Drive about 9: 45 a.m. when he fell onto a concrete slab at the bottom of a stairwell.

Two men were in critical but stable condition yesterday after police found them suffering from gunshot wounds in a car parked in an Annapolis neighborhood. Police said the shootings were reported about 12:20 a.m. after residents heard gunshots, then the prolonged sound of a car horn. Officers found the two victims in a green four-door Toyota in the 1000 block of Forest Hills Ave., north of Quiet Waters Park. Two men walked up and shot the pair as they sat in the car, police said. The motive was unknown, and there was no further description of the suspects.

A head-on collision in western Howard County early yesterday sent two Pennsylvania teen-agers and one Maryland teen-ager to the hospital with serious injuries, Howard County police said.Courtney Sharp and Melissa McGee, both 16, of York, Pa., were traveling north on Route 97 near Longfield Road about 5: 45 a.m. when their 1988 Escort crossed the center line and collided with another 1988 Ford Escort driven by 19-year-old Jeremy Allen of Marriottsville, police said.All three were taken to Maryland Shock and Trauma Center.

A 48-year-old man was killed early yesterday in a fiery head-on collision in Carroll County, Maryland state police said. The victim was identified as Martin Mentis of an unknown address.The crash, near Hampstead, occurred when Lester Lee Rhoton, 32, of Westminster braked to avoid another vehicle, police said. They said his 1985 Ford pickup skidded across the center line into the path of Mentis' 1990 Dodge Colt.Both vehicles caught fire. Police said Mentis was trapped in his vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the face and hip in Baltimore's Rosemont neighborhood Sunday afternoon, police said. The boy was in critical but stable condition at a hospital after the shooting, which happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of N. Ellamont St., police said. Police were working to determine a suspect and a motive. Near the scene of the shooting, which witnesses said happened on the street outside the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses building, young children played outside and neighbors returned home with groceries.

Police on Saturday updated the status of an 18-year-old man and a 27-year-old man shot in separate incidents in the Sandtown-Winchester and Waverly neighborhoods Friday afternoon. As of late Saturday, police said both victims were listed in critical, but stable condition. Police said in the first incident, which happened just after 3:30 p.m., the 18-year-old victim was shot multiple times in the torso in the 1600 block of Mosher St., police said. He was taken to the hospital.

Anne Arundel County police officers are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a 64-year-old bicyclist in Hanover on Sunday morning, sending him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department and Shock Trauma Center spokesperson Cindy Rivers, the bicyclist, Stephen Eugene Shenefiel of the 1500 block of Conifer Ridge Lane in Prescott, Arizona, was listed in critical but stable condition as of Sunday night. Officers responded at 7:36 a.m. Sunday to the report of a bicyclist who was struck on Ridge Road near Furnace Avenue.

A 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound was found outside in a field by a nearby resident in the 11400 block of Frederick Road in Ellicott City about 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, according to Howard County police. Police do not believe the boy, who is from Baltimore County, shot himself, and are "investigating the possibility of foul play," police said. The boy was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was in critical but stable condition late Tuesday, police said. Detectives are investigating the incident, and are working with investigators from other local jurisdictions to determine how and why the shooting occurred, said Sherry Llewellyn, a police spokeswoman.

A 48-year-old pedestrian hit by a van Friday night in Glen Burnie is hospitalized in critical, but stable condition, Anne Arundel County police said. Around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the accident on 8 t h Avenue near Penrod Court. The victim, John Victor Bandtholtz, did not yield as he crossed the street and was struck by a 1996 Chevrolet Astro driven by David Edward Gooden, 54 of Glen Burnie, police said. Bandtholtz, who has no fixed address, was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life threatening injuries, police said.

Two Prince George's County firefighters, who were seriously injured while fighting a house fire in Riverdale, remained in critical but stable condition Sunday, according to their families. Bladensburg volunteer firefighter Ethan Sorrell, 21, remained intubated but was conscious at the Washington Hospital Center's burn unit. He suffered burns to his airway. Kevin O'Toole, 22, also a Bladensburg volunteer firefighter, had burns over 40 percent of his body and was expected to remain in the hospital's burn unit for at least six weeks, according to fire officials, citing O'Toole's father, Jeff.

A 19-year-old Street woman died early yesterday after a 1993 Jeep Cherokee in which she was a passenger ran off the road.Rachael Lynn Lewis of the 3100 block of Old Scarboro Road was killed after the Jeep veered off the road in the 1700 block of Poole Road in Darlington about 12: 14 a.m., striking several trees and rolling over.The driver, Daniel Wade Hodge, 20, of the 1100 block of Poplar Grove Road, Street, was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. He was listed yesterday in critical but stable condition.

Two men are hospitalized Saturday after an early-morning fight in Annapolis left each with a single stab wound near the city's waterfront, police said. Police were called around to the 100 block of Dock Street, near the City Dock, for a reported fight, according to a release from the Annapolis Police Department. Officers found Daniel Hawvermale, 22, of Sandy Spring, stabbed in the chest. Daniel Bichner, 21, of Mt. Airy, was suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen, police said.

A 32-year-old man was in critical but stable condition Sunday morning after being shot multiple times late Saturday night in North Baltimore, police said. Officers found the victim lying in front of a home in the 4400 block of Wrenwood Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, suffering from wounds in the leg, buttocks and waist. He was taken to a hospital for surgery, said Detective Kevin Brown, a city police spokesman. Brown, who did not identify the man, said police have no suspects.
