City homicide detectives have charged the father of a missing 2-month-old girl, who was the subject of a statewide "Amber Alert," with first-degree murder although the child's body has not been found, a police spokesman said. Kenneth Jenkins, 20, of the 2500 block of Francis St., was being held at the Central Booking and Intake Center pending a bail hearing today in District Court, said Officer Troy Harris, the spokesman. Harris declined to reveal the evidence that led police to charge him last night.

County police suspect a group of four to six people may be responsible for stealing $20,000 in jewelry from an elderly Broadneck woman June 24, officials said.Detective Robert Aurand said the group may have committed other robberies, but he could only confirm the one case.An elderly woman had gone to the victim's Broadneck home and said she was looking for someone. When the victim said the person did not live there, the woman asked her to check the phone book for the correct address.While the victim checked the address, other people apparently slipped into the house and stole the jewelry, Detective Aurand said.
