The Orioles optioned outfielder and designated hitter Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk following Friday night's 6-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Manager Buck Showalter said after the game the Orioles will probably bring up a bullpen arm because of right-hander Francisco Rodriguez's strained right groin. Urrutia had a .269/.269/.308 slash line and two RBIs in 21 games. The Cuban defector had only one extra-base hit - a triple in his sixth game at Kansas City - and no walks to go with nine strikeouts.

After giving up a home run and a single to the first two batters in the eighth inning, right-hander Francisco Rodriguez exited Friday's loss to the Colorado Rockies with a strained right groin. He said after the game the soreness bothered him the past week, but it was worse against the Rockies. Similar soreness bothered Rodriguez in 2011, but he plans to keep pitching after treatment Saturday.
