I often think that lie detector tests fall in the same category as law enforcement in WWE -- they should be seen as sporadic as possible. At least in the case of the former, they are used infrequently. How long has it been since we have seen a lie detector test in WWE in recent memory? To me, that's a good thing. Imagine how boring (albeit civil) feuds in WWE would be if this was part of every one. In the main event of Raw, CM Punk accepted being part of one on Miz TV. It wasn't necessarily the lie detector test itself -- it was the verbal jabs back and forth between these two that made for some quality TV. On top of Paul Heyman receiving a new nickname (Walrus)

There are still many unanswered questions following Raw, 24 hours removed from the Survivor Series pay-per-view event. Once again, the 3 NXT alums dressed in black attacked Ryback and put him through a table, with no explanation of who, what or why. At this point, building intrigue through mystery is a great strategy, which is why I'm looking forward to the eventual "explanation" even more. CM Punk celebrated one full fiscal year as WWE champion with great work on the microphone. It was preceded with a mini "pipe bomb" by Paul Heyman, who called out members of the WWE Universe who criticized his and CM Punk's mocking of Jerry Lawler's heart attack, essentially saying that the same fans who clamor for the "good ol' days" of the Attitude Era, complain and are offended when an event that was inspired by that era is seen in WWE today.

It was the perfect final tableau for all players involved in the WWE championship triple threat match at Survivor Series. CM Punk retained the title over Ryback and John Cena. Ryback, the massive monster on the rise, isn't hurt by not winning this match. The fact that he wasn't pinned preserves him as a credible threat. The NXT trio of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and current champion Seth Rollins, all dressed in black, attacked Ryback and sent him through a table. This is beneficial because it adds an element of mystery (Why did they attack?

During a phone interview with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin today promoting WWE '13 and Redneck Island on CMT, I asked “The Rattlesnake” for his thoughts on the controversial moment on Monday night's Raw involving Paul Heyman faking a heart attack (in case you missed it, detailed info can be found in my Raw recap here ). Austin, the most popular superstar from WWE's Attitude Era -- an Era that prided itself on pushing the envelope and creating controversial situations that would have fans talking -- had an interesting response: "I believe in pushing the envelope in an aggressive fashion.

These two tweets ( here and here ) pretty much summarize the opinions expressed by many people in the WWE Universe in response to part of a segment involving CM Punk, Paul Heyman, Mick Foley and a returning Jerry "The King" Lawler. After what was a thunderous reception for "The King", who returned to work after suffering a heart attack during a live RAW broadcast in Montreal on Sept. 10 , CM Punk and Paul Heyman interrupted Lawler's "thank you" speech. CM Punk centered his promo largely on Lawler's heart attack, calling it a "stunt" and saying that had Lawler stayed in the ring he would have "beaten him to death.

Recently on WWE.com, Paul Heyman listed 10 “Paul Heyman Guys.” It seems to be the cool thing these days, in this exclusive club of individuals that associate themselves with the man known as the "Creative Rabbi," the man widely regarded as one of the best talkers and thinkers in the history of professional wrestling, the patriarch of ECW, the man who ushered in a wave of change in the wrestling landscape in the 1990s. One name that wasn't included in that list, (let's call him Paul Heyman Guy No. 11)

CM Punk's path has taken an unexpected turn. Many wondered where the champion would go after retaining his WWE Championship against Ryback at Sunday night's Hell in a Cell. The million-dollar question was answered in the opening segment of Raw, but it was an answer as unexpected as the conclusion of Sunday night's pay-per-view. Punk denied having any knowledge of referee Brad Maddox's plans for the evening, suggesting he did it to make it up to Punk for screwing him in a tag team match against John Cena several months ago. (Yay continuity!

Dolph Ziggler is ready for Hell in a Cell this Sunday, for many reasons. He's ready to steal the show, despite not having an official match on the card. He's ready to dispose of his Money in the Bank briefcase. He's ready to become World Heavyweight Champion. In fact, he is so confident that his time has come, he gave me an exclusive: his first comments as World Heavyweight champion ... before actually winning the title. "I would like to say that I owe a lot of people and that hard work paid off, that nice guys eventually get their shot, but I'm not going to say any of that stuff," boasted Ziggler in a phone interview Thursday.
