And, like Haas, Clegg has based most of her recipes on fresh fruit and vegetables. But neither book, with the exception of the recipes provided by the pros, does enough with fresh herbs, spices or unusual pairings to liven these dishes.

The Columbia Clippers Swim Team, a competitive swim club, will hold its annual Swim-a-Thon from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Columbia Swim Center in Wilde Lake Village Center. The team, which has about 350 members ages 6 to 18, expects to swim a total of 817 miles - the equivalent of the distance to Bermuda, said Eileen Clegg. The event is a fund-raiser for five awards to be given to graduating swim team members in memory of Clegg's late husband, John C. Clegg, a volunteer "swim dad" for the Clippers and the Columbia Neighborhood Swim League.

He was a Deacon with Edgemere Baptist Church for over 30 years.

Gillaspie, dear sister of Robert Clegg, Selma V. Hanlin and Elna V. Heldeffer, loving sister-in-law of Walter Grager. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Laurel M. Clegg and Verna Lee Grager. Funeral Service will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise Avenue on Friday at 12 Noon.

A former Carroll County man with no fixed address was found guilty yesterday of assaulting his ex-girlfriend outside a Westminster bar in 1995.Jerry W. Clegg, 41, was extradited in February from Orlando, Fla., where he fled after the Aug. 17, 1995, beating of Tammy L. Stewart of Culpepper, Va.Clegg pleaded not guilty to one count of assault with intent to maim but agreed not to contest the prosecutor's statement of the facts in the case. In return, charges of assault and battery were dropped.

(nee Genetos) of Westminster, beloved mother of Jordan Papandreu, Caliope "Bopie" Papandreu and Maria Clegg, mother-in-law of Wendee Papandreu and Sam "Butch" Clegg, sister of Nick Genetos and the late Samuel, Achilles and Benjamin Genetos. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services from the Fletcher Funeral Home, 254 E. Main St., Westminster on Friday 11 AM. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, Maryland and Preston Streets, Baltimore, MD or to Carroll Hospice, 95 Carroll St., Westminster, Md. 21157.

A clinical trial of the popular dietary supplements glucosamine and chondroitin found no evidence that they're better than placebos in easing arthritic knee pain, the study's lead investigator said yesterday. The good news: Like placebos, they aren't harmful, either. The government-sponsored trial involving 1,600 arthritis sufferers at 16 medical centers across the country was designed to see whether the supplements lived up to their billing as potent weapons against arthritis. Sales of the two supplements topped $700 million in 2004, according to the Nutrition Business Journal.

LARGO -- Baltimore City teams had things go their way in winning the Baltimore-D.C. Challenge earlier this month, but yesterday city representatives found their second trip to the Washington area a little rougher at the Prince George's County Tip-Off Mixer.No. 15 Mervo and City were both losers, while No. 6 Southwestern was the lone Baltimore winner, defeating Suitland, ranked No. 15 in the Washington area, 56-46.Central defeated Mervo, 70-65, and Fairmont Heights blitzed City, 81-51, in games played at Prince George's Community College.
