St. Martin's in the Field Episcopal Church will hold a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 375 Benfield Road in Severna Park. Candles, wreaths, jewelry, wood crafts and flower arrangements are among the available items. African jewelry and carvings will be sold to benefit AIDS orphans in Africa, and a white elephant sale will be held. For directions and more information, call 410-544-3222.

'Garden of Lights' Brookside Gardens' winter walk-through holiday lights display with more than 1 million twinkling LED lights shaped into forms of flowers, animals and other natural elements is on view through Jan. 6 at 1800 Glenallan Ave. in Wheaton. There will be nightly musical performances as well as refreshments and shopping. Hours are 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays; 5:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays; and until 9 p.m. New Year's Eve. Admission is $20 per car/van Monday-Thursday; $25 per car/van Friday-Sunday.

Christmas bazaar St. Francis of Assisi's annual Christmas Bazaar takes place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9-10, at 8300 Old Columbia Road in Fulton. The event includes more than 25 craftspeople and vendors offering items for sale, a silent auction, raffles, wreaths and Christmas greens, a bake sale, book sale and Santa's Secret Shop for kids. Hours are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Information: 443-812-0290. Holiday fair The Gary J. Arthur Community Center holds its sixth annual Holiday Vendor Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at 2400 Route 97 in Cooksville.

Taylorsville United Methodist Church will feature an oyster and ham luncheon during its Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at the church. The lunch will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. Oyster platters will cost $8.50 and ham platters $7. Sandwiches and homemade soups and pies also will be available. The bazaar will feature crafts, wreaths, baked goods, homemade pickles and jellies, a children's shop, train garden, music and a silent auction. Visitors also can take a hayride.

Doesn't Christmas seem to come a little bit earlier each year?I am almost certain that when I was a child the Christmas lights and large seasonal murals in neighborhood yards were not unveiled until a week before Christmas.And it was almost unheard of for anyone to put up the Christmas tree more than a few days before the holiday.Well, I can honestly say that as an adult, I enjoy making the most of the season.Typically, this means our tree will be trimmed and lighted the weekend after Thanksgiving and Christmas carols will dominate the musical menu in our home.

Christmas bazaar planned tomorrow The women of the Community Church of God will hold a Christmas Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at 306 Fifth Ave. S.E., Glen Burnie. As its annual holiday presentation, Fell's Point Corner Theatre is once again showcasing the students in its Children's Theatre Program, who will appear with experienced community theater actors in the Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol."Mark Lewis directs the production, which stars Sandy Alexander as Scrooge and Gareth Kelly as Jacob Marley. Each performance will also feature a Christmas bazaar, offering items ranging from crafts to baked goods. Proceeds help provide scholarships for the children's program.

She directs and teaches the Christmas crafts workshop, which has been meeting weekly since last February to make items for the Christmas bazaar.Organization's comments: "She's been a godsend," said senior center Manager Dorothy Houff. "She's very talented. She makes beautiful things. She used to attend craft classes here and she looked so talented that I asked her one day to help with the Christmas bazaar.

Karen L. Nace, a homemaker and active church volunteer, died Wednesday of ovarian cancer at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster. She was 54. Karen Louise Armetta was born in Baltimore and raised in Hamilton. After graduating from Seton High School in 1973, she went to work for the state Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for the next seven years. "That's where we met," said her husband of 34 years, Richard L. Nace, an environmental engineer for the federal Department of Energy.

Vocalists sought for Heritage show The adult choir at Heritage Baptist Church is seeking additional vocalists for its coming production. The choir, under the direction of the Rev.
