Over the past few weeks, I've talked about how important this summer is to the WWE.  On Monday night, it was shown just how important the company feels the upcoming months are, as we got two big returns in Chris Jericho and AJ Lee. All night, the broadcasters had teased the big return of a former WWE champion. When The Miz came out, the fans, both in the arena and on Twitter, were annoyed, feeling that the WWE had pulled a bait-and-switch. However, midway through his promo, Chris Jericho came out after an absence of nearly a year.

This past Thursday night, Chris Jericho found a Brazilian flag ringside at a live event in Brazil during his match against CM Punk. Jericho picked up the flag, showed it to the audience, threw it down on the ground and kicked it out of the ring . The local police, present at the event, stopped the match and demanded that Jericho give an apology or face incarceration. He did so , and the match resumed. Afterwards, it was announced on WWE.com that WWE suspended Jericho indefinitely for the incident, which later became 30 days.

First, Chris Jericho wanted to "save us," and then his mantra became "save me." Now, he is playing a role in helping 11 female singers who are seeking redemption. Jericho is the host of Fuse TV's Redemption Song, a reality competition show in which down-on-their-luck singers with troubled pasts vie for their last chance at musical stardom. The show debuted Wednesday night. (For more, go to baltimoresun.com/ringposts)

Personal demons have long been exploited for the sake of advancing a professional wrestling storyline. As a matter of fact, current WWE Champion CM Punk is no stranger to it, as he himself brought Jeff Hardy's history with drugs and addiction into their feud a few years ago. But when it comes to Punk's current battle with Chris Jericho, one has to wonder what exactly is the point? The promo exchange between the two the past few weeks hasn't focused on Punk's demons but those of his family.

I think it's a lock that Mickey Rourke will leave his ringside seat and get in at least one punch on Chris Jericho. And there's your Wrestle-Mania moment. ( For more, go to baltimoresun.com/ ringposts)

Monday night's Raw began with a well-executed angle and ended with a great match. What was in between was pretty good, too. When Chris Jericho came out to confront Stephanie McMahon at the top of the show, I never imagined it would result in Stephanie's firing Jericho. ( For more, go to baltimoresun.com/ringposts)

The Internet was buzzing with reports of Hulk Hogan possibly appearing at WrestleMania 25 to face either John Cena or Chris Jericho. I have no idea whether there is any truth to these rumors, but I don't want it to happen. ( For more, go to baltimoresun.com/ringposts)

Last night's WWE Payback pay-per-view had a little bit of everything. First, there were title changes. Dolph Ziggler returned from a concussion only to lose to Alberto Del Rio in an entertaining match that was eerily similar to Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13 (in the same AllState Arena, then known as the Rosemont Horizon). Dolph (the villain) was cheered throughout the match, while Del Rio (the hero) was vilified by the consistently loud Chicago audience. After winning the gold, Del Rio cut an eyebrow raising promo, further perpetuating his likely turn.

During a phone interview with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin today promoting WWE '13 and Redneck Island on CMT, I asked “The Rattlesnake” for his thoughts on the controversial moment on Monday night's Raw involving Paul Heyman faking a heart attack (in case you missed it, detailed info can be found in my Raw recap here ). Austin, the most popular superstar from WWE's Attitude Era -- an Era that prided itself on  pushing the envelope and creating controversial situations that would have fans talking -- had an interesting response: "I believe in pushing the envelope in an aggressive fashion.

Fans had many expectations heading into Sunday night's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, fueled largely by Internet speculation. Rumors had been running rampant of returning superstars, changes to the world title matches and the addition of undercard bouts to round out a four-match card. In the end, some of the expectations proved true while others ultimately failed to materialize. Two injured superstars returned from injury -- albeit in an in-ring segment rather than matches -- while Santino Marella proved doubters wrong and Jack Swagger defended his United States Championship for the first time on pay-per-view.

Professional wrestling has been a part of my life since the age of 3, when I first saw Hulk Hogan inside the squared circle. But it wasn't just "Hulkamania" that got me hooked on wrestling; I couldn't learn enough about every single superstar that graced the ring. For me, pro wrestling was always the complete package of athleticism, drama, pageantry and larger-than-life characters that leaped through my television screen. In 2005 I started to get involved with pro wrestling at the independent level, promoting local events in the Toronto area and in northern Ontario.

I'm sure everyone in WWE is breathing a sigh of relief after a magnetic resonance imaging exam revealed that Shawn Michaels' triceps injury is not as serious as first believed. Michaels suffered a small tear of his left triceps and is medically cleared for his match against Chris Jericho at the Unforgiven pay-per-view Sunday. Michaels had said that he was doing the match regardless of the severity of the injury. Had the triceps been fully torn, Michaels was looking at surgery and missing four to six months.
