One person was killed when they lost control of their truck on Interstate 295 Thursday afternoon and crashed off the side of the highway, Maryland State Police troopers said. State Police did not have information on the victim's identity Friday morning. Around 4 p.m. a blue Chevrolet Silverado slid off the highway in the southbound lanes just past Waterview Avenue near Lansdowne, struck a tree and caught fire. The driver was killed and no one else was injured in the single-vehicle crash, State Police said.

An Annapolis man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while walking southbound on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie early Friday morning. At around 4:30 a.m., Gilbert Gabriel Buchacz, 60, of Annapolis was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado near Phelps Avenue in an area where there were no pedestrian control devices, Anne Arundel County police said. The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Early investigation found that the main cause of the crash is pedestrian error. Police said excessive speed and alcohol were not factors.

State police have identified the 18-year-old who was killed in a fiery Westminster car crash Thursday night. Eric D. Ludvigsen of Westminster was killed after his 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Mark A. Fourhman, 37, of Westminster, police said. The two were heading east on Hampstead Mexico Road, north of Leisters Church Road, about 7 p.m. when police said Ludvigsen slowed down, and Fourhman hit him from behind. Ludvigsen's Oldsmobile was pushed into oncoming traffic and was hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Jason J. Myers, 25, of Westminster, police said.

Maryland State Police at the Westminster barracks were investigating a three-vehicle collision Tuesday evening in Carroll County that killed a 64-year-old Pennsylvania woman. Elisabeth Catherine Osorio of the first block of Frock Drive in Hanover, Pa., was driving her 2011 Subaru Legacy north along Hanover Pike in Manchester, near the Pennsylvania border, at about 6 p.m. when the left rear tire of a truck traveling in front of her — a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado — fell off, police said.

Anne Arundel County police are looking for a driver who ran away from a crash that killed another motorist Sunday evening in Odenton. Killed in the crash was Tori Danielle Stitely, 27, of the first block of Cornhill Street in Annapolis, who was driving a Lexus, police said. Police said she was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she died. Witnesses described the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado truck as a white woman with brown hair wearing a pink tank top and jeans, and said she ran from the scene, police said.

LaVALE -- A Washington County teen-ager died and several people were injured Saturday night in a multivehicle crash on Interstate 68 in LaVale, Allegany County, state police said. Kelly Peacher, 16, of Clear Spring was pronounced dead at the scene, said Pfc. Jack Mathew of the Maryland State Police. The two passengers in her car and the driver of one other vehicle were taken to Cumberland Memorial Hospital. Peacher was driving west on I-68 when her 1997 Hyundai Tiburon collided with a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria.

State police investigated three motor vehicle incidents at Liberty High School in Eldersburg between 8:30 a.m. and 12:08 p.m. Monday.Officers said a 1986 Chevrolet Blazer was damaged in an apparent attempt to steal it. The door molding was damaged and the alarm sounded to scare off the tamperer.A 1986 Chevrolet Silverado truck was stolen from the school parking lot and a stolen 1989 Oldsmobile station wagon was recovered on the lot.

Police have located a suspect in the hit-and-run death of an Annapolis man early on New Year's Day. Alfred Byrd was crossing or walking within the right travel lane of Bay Ridge Road east of Edgewood Road about 2 a.m. Friday when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east. Byrd, 40, of 1212 Louis Ave., Annapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle, which was believed to be a Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe truck or a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, continued east on Bay Ridge Road.

Two of the suspects got out and entered a black four-door 1995 Saturn SL1 parked in the service bay with keys in its ignition. The drivers of both cars drove off, police said.

A 53-year-old Westminster man was killed after his pickup truck ran off southbound Route 27 south of Westminster and overturned several times, state police at the Westminster barracks said. John Melvin Leishear of the 200 block of Hook Road was pronounced dead at the accident scene, near Old Westminster Road, the police said. Police said they learned of the accident from a motorist who called at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday to report having seen a damaged vehicle. The Chevrolet Silverado apparently ran off the southbound shoulder of Route 27, veered back into the lane, then slid sideways down the bank and into a field, where it overturned several times, the police said.
