A woman was in critical condition after she was struck by a car while walking in the roadway along Route 1 in Elkridge, according to Howard County Police. The victim, whom police have not been able to identify, was walking in the southbound travel lane of Route 1 just south of Port Capital Drive at about 9:44 p.m. when she was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, according to police. The woman was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. The driver was not injured.

Anne Arundel County police say a 20-year-old Severn woman has been charged with negligent manslaughter by motor vehicle after cell phone records indicate she was using her cell phone when the car she was driving struck a motorcycle, killing the driver. Jonathan Wesley Roberts, 30, of Virginia, died in the accident, which occurred in March 10 in Gambrills. Police said Elizabeth Haley Meyers, was attempting to cross northbound Route 3 when the 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt she was driving traveled into the path of a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by Roberts in the left lane.

Three police officers suffered minor injuries in a police chase that started in Northeast Baltimore and ended with a collision in the Carney area of Baltimore County. A police spokesman said the pursuit began after two officers moved to interrupt a "possible drug transaction" in the 5200 block of Belair Road. Two officers suffered "scratches and abrasions" in a collision with the suspect vehicle, and were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center as a precaution. The gray Chevrolet Cobalt fled, leading officers through Northeast and Northern Baltimore, with the passenger-side door of the vehicle bent backward at one point.

A state trooper narrowly escaped serious injury during an early-morning chase Friday along Route 152 in southern Harford County, and a suspect has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. John Jacob Nussle V, 22, of Joppa also faces assault and malicious destruction charges. Trooper Jon Sawa stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt at 12:01 a.m. in the southbound lane near Stockton Road for erratic driving. When the driver in the Cobalt fled, the trooper pursued for about three miles in his unmarked patrol car. The cars veered into the northbound lane, and the Cobalt rammed the trooper's vehicle at least once, police said.

Police reports in Baltimore city and county: Southern Baltimore Burglary/arrest: One man was arrested and police were seeking two other men in the burglary early Wednesday of Save On Foods in the 400 block of E. Patapsco Ave. After stealing lottery tickets valued at $25, the intruders fled on foot and were spotted by a passing police officer. Two men then carjacked a motorist near the store and remain at large. The car was recovered in the city. One man, 30, was arrested and faces multiple charges.

A 78-year-old man who was struck by a car as he tried to cross a street Tuesday in Pasadena died at a hospital of his injuries, Anne Arundel County police said. Fred William Champion of the 75800 block of Beach Drive in Pasadena was pronounced dead shortly after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Police said that at about 5:20 p.m., he tried to walk across Riviera Drive, north of Fort Smallwood Road. He was not in a crosswalk and stepped into the path of a southbound Chevrolet Cobalt, which struck him, police said.

State police have made a third arrest in the carjacking of a Harford County woman this week. Lamont Harrison Jr., 19, was arrested Wednesday near his home on Melwood Court in Edgewood and charged with carjacking, armed robbery, assault, kidnapping and theft. His $1 million bond was revoked Thursday, and he remains in the Harford County Detention Center. Joshua Prince Freeman, 19, of Edgewood and Roberta Antonaccio, 17, of Joppa face the same felony charges in connection with the incident, which began late Monday in Edgewood.
