A Delaware man was killed and another man injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 near Aberdeen Wednesday morning, Maryland State Police said. Police said Robert John Killian, 48, of Bear, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash, which happened in the southbound lanes near exit 85 before 6 a.m. Lanes were blocked for about four hours. Killian, who was driving a white Chevrolet Cavalier, drove onto the right shoulder and was struck by another car as he attempted to get back into the lane, police said.

A Pikesville man was killed Saturday in Westminster when the car he was in collided with another vehicle on Route 97, Maryland State Police said. Police identified the man as Terry Gail Clark, 58. The crash happened south of Hook Road about 1:30 p.m. Clark was in a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Ethel Neta Maddox, 51, of Pikesville, police said. They were traveling south on Route 97 when a northbound Ford Mustang driven by Michael Allen Smith, 55, of Highland, crossed the center line.

Maryland State Police say "consumption of alcoholic beverages is believed to have been a contributing factor" in a fatal head-on collision in northern Harford County early Sunday morning. Donald Vangosen, 41, of Fawn Grove, Pa, died at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash on Route 23 (Norrisville Road) just south of Harford Creamery Road near Norrisville, according to state police. Troopers from the Maryland State Police Bel Air Barrack D in Bel Air responded to Norrisville Road for a reported serious motor vehicle collision just after 5 a.m. Sunday.

Three people died last night after two cars collided on U.S. 1 in Fallston, near the border of Harford and Baltimore counties, state police reported. The cars were so badly damaged that police said they were having trouble determining the direction each had been traveling before the impact. Police said the cars -- a 2000 Chrysler and 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier -- collided about 7:40 p.m. after one of them crossed the center line on the highway near Reckord Road, less than a mile north of the border in Harford County.

In a halting voice, a 24-year-old Elkridge man recalled on Wednesday the sight of an approaching car as he watched a drag race almost two years ago, and how he had not realized until too late that the Chevrolet Impala was headed straight for him and his two friends. "Get out of the way!" Paul A. Duffy remembered screaming to his friends, an admonition that failed to save Mary-Kathryn Abernathy, 21, and Jonathan R. Henderson, 20, from the impact of the speeding Impala. Both died in the June 21, 2009, accident on Interstate 70 in Woodlawn, and Duffy suffered broken ribs and other injuries.

Baltimore City Northeastern District Arrest: Brittany Kelly, 18, was arrested yesterday at the Warrant Apprehension Task Force on West 29th Street on a warrant charging her with arson. She is charged with setting a fire May 25 in a room at her home of the 4800 block of Gilray Court, causing an estimated $25,000 in damage. Northern District Shooting: Keith Rice, 43, was walking in the 400 block of Whitridge Ave. about 3:30 a.m. yesterday when he was shot twice in the right leg by one of two men leaving a car. Rice was released after being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

A Baltimore woman and her friend were being held on murder charges yesterday, a day after police swarmed a Bob Evans restaurant in Glen Burnie and pulled them from their window booth. "It was quick and sudden," said Brian Sauer, the general manager of the restaurant on Ritchie Highway near the Baltimore Beltway. Suzanne Lucy Schoff, 27, of the 100 block of S. Calhoun St. and Terry Allen Wingler Jr., 30, were charged with criminal homicide and conspiracy in the shooting death Wednesday of Schoff's estranged husband in York County, Pa., Pennsylvania State Police said.

Inmate, 37, stabbed 10 times during fight at state prison annex A 37-year-old inmate at the Maryland House of Correction Annex in Jessup was hospitalized yesterday after being stabbed 10 times by another prisoner, authorities said. The inmate - who was not immediately identified by Division of Correction officials -was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. A 24-year-old inmate, serving a 37-year term for murder, was being questioning about the attack, officials said. Officers found an 8-inch prison-made knife in the dayroom of the housing unit where the fight broke out about 4:30 p.m., said state prisons spokesman David B. Towers.
