Four traffic lanes on northbound Interstate 95 between the Caton Avenue on-ramp and Fort McHenry Tunnel will split around a work zone. One lane will be directed to the left and three others to the right, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. Travelers in the left lane will not be able to access the exits for Russell Street, northbound Interstate 395, Hanover Street and Key Highway. Stay right to use exits. The work is part of a $66 million project to replace the existing concrete riding surface and roadway joints on I-95 and the ramps serving it in Baltimore City.

Overnight closures of the ramp carrying southbound Interstate 95 onto northbound Interstate 395 into downtown Baltimore will begin on Tuesday as part of a $13 million bridge repair project, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. Starting Tuesday night through Sunday, Nov. 2, the ramp will be closed nightly Monday through Saturday from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., the MdTA said. Crews will be repairing, cleaning and painting steel support beams. The project targets bridges on I-95 and I-395 south of the Fort McHenry Tunnel.

As of 9:10 a.m. Friday morning, the Maryland Department of Transportation is reporting that things appear to be easing up after a few incidents this morning. A single-vehicle accident on northbound I-95 near Caton Avenue was blocking a travel lane, but now is clear. Also cleared is the accident on westbound Route 100 west at I-97 in Anne Arundel County. And traffic cameras show smooth traffic flow in the area of the inner loop of the Beltway at Wilkens Avenue, where an earlier incident had affected the right off-ramp lane and the far right shoulder.

All southbound traffic is shut down on Interstate 895 south at the Harbor Tunnel due to a disabled vehicle at 8:46 a.m. on Thursday, according to the state Department of Transportation. A collision on the inner loop of I-695 in Towson at the Jones Falls Expressway South has closed the inner loop right shoulder at 8:35 a.m., according to DOT. A collision on I-95 in Baltimore City at the I-395 exit has closed the southbound right traffic lane and southbound right shoulder at 8:32 a.m. on Thursday, according to DOT. Dock Street in Annapolis is shut down due to partial flooding at 8:02 a.m. on Thursday, according to Annapolis Police.

As of 9 a.m. Friday, traffic was slow on I-95 northbound near Caton Avenue, due to an accident. Accidents were slowing traffic on Route 175 eastbound at Dobbin Road in Howard County, Monroe Street near Franklin Street in Baltimore City, Quarterfield Road and Parke West Drive in Anne Arundel County, I-795 southbound near Franklin Boulevard in Baltimore County, and Route 140 and York Street in Taneytown. A vehicle fire was slowing traffic on I-95 southbound at the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore City.

As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, traffic was slow on southbound I-95 past Caton Avenue, due to a disabled vehicle in the road. Emergency roadwork was causing traffic to be slow on southbound Route 140 at Painters Mill Road. Downtown, travel was restricted on southbound Light Street from Conway to Lee streets because of preparations for the Baltimore Grand Prix. Otherwise, there were no accidents reported on major Baltimore area roads and highways. There were no major delays on mass transit systems.

The ramp carrying southbound Interstate 395 traffic onto northbound Interstate 95 in Baltimore will close overnight as part of the ongoing work repairing deck surfaces and joints in the area, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. The ramp, a main artery for downtown traffic onto northbound I-95, will close at 10 tonight and reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the MdTA said. Drivers will be detoured to southbound I-95, to Caton Avenue and then onto northbound I-95, the MdTA said.

Commuters entering Baltimore from the south on Monday morning found themselves in a massive traffic jam amid widespread confusion about how to navigate a new construction pattern, in part due to a failure by the Maryland Transportation Authority to update signage about the change. "It was way, way, way beyond anything I have seen," said Tamory Winfield, a MdTA spokesman, of the traffic problems on northbound Interstate 95. Crews are rushing to fix the issues before the afternoon rush hour, which will include a northbound influx of fans headed to tonight's Orioles game, he said.

The long-term construction on northbound Interstate 95 in Baltimore will once again shift lane patterns this weekend, forcing ramp and exit closures in the process, according to the Maryland Transportation Administration. The current split between Caton Avenue and the Fort McHenry Tunnel of two lanes on the left and two on the right will change to three lanes on the left and one on the right sometime after 9 a.m. Sunday. Traffic in the right lane will be able to exit onto Russell Street, Interstate 395 and Key Highway.

Emergency roadwork on northbound Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson at Mussula Road has closed the northbound left traffic lane at 9:02 a.m. on Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation. An incident on Interstate 95 North in Rossville prior to the Baltimore Beltway exit has closed the northbound left traffic lane and northbound left shoulder at 9:02 a.m., DOT said.. A two-vehicle accident on I-95 North in Baltimore City prior to the U.S. 1 (Caton Avenue) exit has closed the northbound right shoulder at 8:53 a.m., DOT said.

A plan to build subsidized housing on the former Cardinal Gibbons School campus in Southwest Baltimore has met with opposition from some neighbors worried about traffic and property values. The concerns have led to a dispute between the communities and neighboring Saint Agnes Hospital, which purchased the 32-acre property two years ago after the school closed with the intention of doing something to help the area. Already the hospital and the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation have raised $1.4 million to update the property's baseball field, where Babe Ruth played as a student at St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, which preceded Cardinal Gibbons on the Caton Avenue site.

All lanes have been reopened on Interstate 95 South in Baltimore City with the clearing of a two-vehicle collision with injury at Caton Avenue on Friday morning that shut down all but the southbound left shoulder for more than two hours, state transportation officials said. The state Department of Transportation reported the incident at 7:08 a.m. At 7:30 a.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority said that all traffic was moving along the left shoulder. At 8:34 a.m., MdTA said that traffic was backed up approximately six miles.

A major construction project on Interstate 95, set to begin Sunday, will impact traffic in Baltimore for the next two years - shifting and narrowing lanes and forcing ramp closures and detours. The $66 million project to remove and replace the existing concrete deck and roadway joints of 4.4 miles of the elevated highway between Caton Avenue and the Fort McHenry Tunnel south of downtown is expected to last through the middle of 2016, the Maryland Transportation Authority said Friday.
