A man threw a brick through the locked glass door of a Paceway convenience store in the 100 block of Old Solomons Island Road in Annapolis early yesterday and climbed through the hole to rob the store, county police said.The man broke in about 4 a.m., threatened clerk Robert Kapoor and ordered him to open the cash register. He indicated he had a weapon, but never showed it, before grabbing the cash drawer and fleeing, police said.Pub Date: 12/09/97

Anne Arundel police said a man robbed a Red Roof Inn Saturday in Hanover after telling a hotel clerk that the room rates were just too high. About 9 p.m. Saturday, a man entered the lobby of the Red Roof Inn in the 7300 block of Parkway Drive in Hanover and asked how much the nightly rates were. When the clerk answered, the man brandished a handgun and demanded money. The clerk gave the suspect money from a cash drawer, police said. The suspect fled on foot after finding a second cash drawer empty, police said.

A robber frustrated because he couldn't force open a cash drawer punched and choked the clerk at a gas station on Mountain Road early yesterday, then made off with an envelope of money that was next to the cash register, county police said.The man, disguised with a stocking over his face, walked into the Mobil station in the 4100 block of Mountain Road at 12:30 a.m. and demanded money from the clerk.He tried to force the cash drawer open, but when he could not, he punched the clerk and continued to demand money, then grabbed the envelope and ran out the door.

A Glen Burnie man has been found guilty of attempted murder and other charges for a violent armed robbery in 2011 at a grocery store in Annapolis. Darius Dontee Cameron, 28, was found guilty by a jury in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court on Thursday of two counts of attempted second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree assault, two counts of attempted armed robbery, use of a handgun during a felony and use of a handgun in a crime of violence, according to the county state's attorney's office.

A man armed with a handgun robbed Little Caesar's Pizza in the 900 block of Bay Ridge Road about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.Manager Robert Heverling told police the man, who was dressed in a green coat and blue jeans, walked into the store, announced he had a gun and demanded that the cash register be opened.When Mr. Heverling opened the cash drawer, the man removed money and ran out of the store.

A man who tried to rob a Mobil gas station yesterday morning was foiled when the attendant locked the outside cash drawer and sat on the floor until he left, county police said.The man walked up to the outside service window of the station in the 7900 block of Crain Highway shortly after 12:30 a.m. Holding his hand in his shirt as though he had a gun, the man ordered the attendant to put money through the cash window, police said.But the robber left without any money after the attendant locked the cash drawer and sat on the floor, police said.

A gunman grabbed a fistful of money from a cash drawer at a Brooklyn Park fast-food restaurant Tuesday evening, county police said yesterday.Police said the gunman walked into the Burger King in the 5500 block of Ritchie Highway about 8:30 p.m. and passed the cashier a note announcing a robbery.As the cashier read the note, the gunman began making small talk with her and reached over the counter and grabbed money out of the cash drawer.He opened his coat to show her a gun, then ran out of the restaurant.

Baltimore County police have asked for help in finding a man charged in the fatal shooting of his girlfriend last month in Lansdowne. Emory Lamont Lewis, 24, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Felicia Ann Spratley, 22, who was shot Sept. 8. A confrontation started at Spratley's apartment in the first block of Silerton Road, and she was shot after she ran from the apartment, police said. Shots were also fired at a man inside the apartment, police said. Spratley was taken to St. Agnes Hospital and transferred to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she died.

Eldersburg: Theft: Fishing tackle and supplies were reported stolen Monday from a storage shed at a home in the 700 block of Hoods Mills Road. Theft: A woman took $284 from a cash drawer about 4:30 p.m. May 19 at Martin's supermarket in the Freedom Village shopping center in the 6300 block of Georgetown Blvd., after one woman bought a candy bar and another asked for change in a "quick-change scam," according to Trooper Deborah L. Zittel of the Westminster barracks.

A robbery suspect who was shot by an off-duty city police officer Saturday was being treated yesterday at Union Memorial Hospital, a police spokeswoman said.According to Agent Ragina L. Cooper, Officer Kareem Hill, 24, a one-year veteran assigned to Western District, was inside the McDonald's restaurant in the 2000 block of N. Broadway about 9: 45 p.m. Saturday when a man entered and demanded cash from a cashier, who gave him the cash drawer containing an undisclosed amount of money.Hill, who was in plainclothes, identified himself as a police officer and ordered the man to halt.

Two men cleared out the cash drawer at a Ferndale convenience store Wednesday, getting away with an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.A clerk at the Royal Farms store in the 7000 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. told police that the men walked into the store just after 10 p.m., brought a bag of chips to the counter and demanded that the clerk hand over the cash in the register.The clerk opened the register, and the men grabbed the money, then ordered the clerk to give them cigarettes and money from a nearby lottery machine.

Man with shotgun robs convenience storeA man armed with a sawed-off shotgun robbed a Severna Park convenience store of an undisclosed amount of money last Tuesday, county police said yesterday.According to the police report, the gunman walked into the High's store in the 500 block of B&A Blvd. at 10:37 p.m.He pointed the shotgun at a clerk and demanded cash.The clerk grabbed the barrel of the gun and began struggling, but the robber pulled the gun free and struck the clerk in the head with the barrel several times, then grabbed the cash drawer and ran out of the store, police said.

A cashier at the Giant food store in the Rotunda shopping center in North Baltimore was shot and seriously wounded last night during a brazen robbery attempt that sent frightened customers diving for cover, city police said.At least 100 people were shopping in the store when three men tried to rob it about 7: 45 p.m., police said.Witnesses said an armed man pushed his way to the front of a checkout line and ordered a cashier to open her cash drawer. They said that when the cashier, apparently confused, backed away from the register without opening it, the gunman fired two to four shots.
