A 61-year-old man with a high fever was rescued Tuesday evening from a 957-foot tanker ship anchored near Annapolis, U.S. Coast Guard officials said. The captain of the Cape Althea contacted Coast Guard officials about 5 p.m. reporting he had a 104-degree fever, and Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel helped retrieve the man via a 45-foot rescue boat to a medical center, officials said. "Since the Cape Althea was at anchor and the crew from Anne Arundel County Fire and Rescue has an advanced capability to aid medically, we asked them to assist," said Chief Petty Officer Eddie McCrae, supervisor of the Coast Guard Sector Baltimore Command Center, in a statement.

NEW YORK -- The conversation took place during his freshman year at Maryland. Greivis Vasquez, still learning a new language and getting adjusted to playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference, sat down in his coach's office one day to talk about his dreams. "He told me that he wanted to play in the NBA," Gary Williams recalled recently. "I told him, 'You've got the size, you see the court really well, you can shoot fairly well. It's just a matter of getting better every year.' He just took that to heart and went with it. Greivis got better every year.

A combination of feather-covered body armor, 5-foot wings and a sharp helmet make for a wardrobe more suited to a Roman soldier than a football fan. But for Pasadena resident Roderick Allman, 39, the suit allows him to become "Ravenous Maximus" on the days of Raven games. Allman moved to Baltimore from Hawaii at age 18. When the Ravens came to Baltimore, he was hooked. "Hawaii doesn't have a professional football team, so it's only big to some people there," Allman said. "But Baltimore is a town that loves football.

Ahhhh, the Dark and Stormy. That unmistakable sweetness that only Gosling's Black Seal can provide, mixed with the bite of ginger beer. It's the perfect anytime drink despite its reputation for being "tropical," I've had a DnS with eggs for brunch and at closing time alike, and it's good every time. One of the best Dark and Stormies you can find in the city is Riverside's neighborhood favorite Captain Larry's. Formerly owned by a City Police officer (Captain Larry), now-owner Ivars Balodis and company have kept Larry's fascination with Gosling's alive.
