On September 20, 2007 MICHAEL JOHN CANTER, beloved husband of Anita Ruley; devoted son of Jean Mary Canter and the late Nils Albert Canter; loving father of Jillian, Andrea and Desi Canter; dear brother of Steve, Donald and Patricia Canter. Also survived by many loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2007, 11 a.m., at Mountain Christian Church (Joppa, MD). Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc.

On September 21, 2007, VIRGINIA SULLAVAN CANTER, beloved wife of Stephen Canter. She is survived by her sisters, Jacqueline Sullavan, Dianna Acosta and Dorrine Sadler, her mother in law Jean Canter, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to: St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis TN 38101.

Wayne Canter sees a weather pattern: "I live in Perry Hall ... When there is a line of thunderstorms approaching, they either fall apart or split apart just before reaching Perry Hall, only to re-energize after leaving the area." He asks if I have a theory to explain it. I do. It's the "New Seed Theorem." Someone has planted a lawn in Perry Hall, and this is his inevitable punishment: No rain. It's a corollary to the "Clean Car Law." Wash your car, and it will rain.

The Baltimore County Police Department announced yesterday the promotion of 31 members, including five sergeants promoted to lieutenants. John E. Allen, James P. Dorsey and Neil L. White will be lieutenants at the new Pikesville precinct, which is scheduled to open by April. Michael D. Schwanebeck and Scott A. Canter were also promoted from sergeant to lieutenant. Schwanebeck will work in the records section of the department, and Canter will work in forensics. In addition, the promotions of 10 sergeants, 14 corporals and two civilians were announced.
