Annapolis store plans fund-raiser Jan. 16 to help feed hungry Fresh Fields/Whole Foods Market will donate 5 percent of the Jan. 16 sales at its Annapolis store to Food Link Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps the hungry in Anne Arundel County. Food Link volunteers and board members will be at the store, 2504 Solomons Island Road, throughout the day to provide information about the organization. Fresh Fields/Whole Foods Market plans four days during the year when it donates part of its profits to community programs, according to store officials.

Campo is named VoxTec vice president VoxTec International Inc. in Annapolis has named Laurent Campo as its vice president and general counsel. Campo practiced law at several law firms in Washington and specializes in corporate and securities transactions, with particular knowledge and experience in high technology and emerging growth companies. VoxTec is the manufacturer of the Phraselator P2, a hand-held translation system developed for the military with support from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

The annual Bay Bridge Walk will take place April 28, coinciding with an event in the Volvo Round-the-World Ocean Race. The 4.3-mile walk allows people to experience the bridge from a different vantage point. Normally held the first Sunday in May, the event attracts about 50,000 people. Buses will begin boarding participants at 8:30 a.m. at three locations: Naval-Marine Corps Stadium, Anne Arundel Community College and Chesapeake Bay Business Park. Cost for transportation is $1 for anyone 6 and older.

Two years ago, Crownsville's Linda Greenberg invited 250 people to Thanksgiving dinner.Last year, she expanded the guest list to 500.Today, the county's most relentless doer of good deeds is expecting 1,000 to show up at Camp Letts in Mayo to feast on turkey, pumpkin pie and anything else she can coerce volunteers into bringing.If you're one of those people who has nowhere to go for Thanksgiving, it's worth the trip to Mayo. Though every year the frenetic Mrs. Greenberg appears to bite off more than she can chew, she's proven she can deliver on plans for these holiday extravaganzas.

Panel to meet on plans for dairy farm An advisory committee plans to begin work tonight on recommendations for using the dairy farm Anne Arundel County is leasing from the Naval Academy. County Executive John R. Leopold announced yesterday that the panel, made up of residents neighboring the farm and representatives of various civic groups, would hold its first meeting at 7 p.m. at 2664 Riva Road to develop a proposed master plan for the farm. A formal display garden has already been proposed as a centerpiece of the dairy farm, which the county is leasing for 30 years.

When Val Siktar puts together an agenda of weekend activities, teen-agers from around Maryland come calling.Senior program director at the YMCA's Annapolis branch, Siktar played host to more than 65 teens over the weekend, ranging in age from 13 to 19, for the YMCA TeenLeaders Rally at Camp Letts in Edgewater.Anne Arundel was host to the annual statewide rally, dubbed "EverOn," for the second straight year."It's the best-kept secret in the YMCA," Siktar said of the program.Dancing, games, storytelling and self-esteem workshops are only a few of the highlights.

While local social workers worry about having too many hungry people and not enough food this Thanksgiving, one volunteer has plenty of food and not enough hungry people.Linda Greenberg of Crownsville, a well-known advocate for the homeless, plans to serve enough turkey and trimmings for 200 people from 1 to 4 p.m.Thursday at Camp Letts in Mayo. As of Wednesday, with 100 people scheduled to attend, Greenberg was still spreading the word about her first-ever Thanksgiving dinner for the needy.
