The Towson men's lacrosse team scored in the second overtime to win, 10-9, against host Hofstra on Saturday. The Tigers (6-3, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) trailed 9-3 with 12:04 left in the fourth quarter but went on a 7-0 run to beat the Pride (4-5, 1-2). Thomas DeNapoli tied the game with two seconds left in regulation, and Justin Mabus had the final score with 38 seconds remaining in the second overtime. UMBC 16, Hartford 12: Joe Lustgarten had eight points to lead the Retrievers (3-4, 1-0 America East)

Bradford Burgess scored 22 points and the host Virginia Commonwealth men's basketball team took advantage of every Towson turnover Wednesday night, beating the Tigers, 66-43. The Rams (21-5, 12-2 Colonial Athletic Association) have won 10 in a row and 18 of their past 20. The Tigers (1-25, 1-13) committed 28 turnovers. Burgess had been quiet in the previous four games, scoring eight, eight, nine and six points. He was 8-for-15 from the field, including 6-for-11 from behind the arc. D.J. Haley added career highs in points (10)

Stephanie LaGue is having the time of her life these days at Goucher. The sophomore is breaking school records, has been honored as the top swimmer in the Capital Athletic Conference this season, is closing in on a trip to Atlanta for the NCAA Division III championships and is enjoying frolicking in the snow. Yes, the Glendale, Wis., resident feels right at home in these record-breaking snowfalls. That's why she loved it one day when her teammates decided to go outside after practice and make snow angels before getting dressed.

Several attackmen from area schools on both the Division I and III levels earned weekly honors from their respective conferences. Loyola junior Mike Sawyer was recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as the Offensive Player of the Week. Sawyer amassed eight goals and two assists in the No. 7 Greyhounds' 11-6 victory over No. 20 Georgetown Tuesday night and 13-5 rout of UMBC Saturday night. Navy sophomore Sam Jones was named the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Week.

Et cetera Mount loses, effectively ending postseason hopes Julian Norfleet had his sixth 20-point game of the season, but visiting Mount St. Mary's (7-21, 5-12 Northeast Conference) lost, 78-63, to Central Connecticut State (12-15, 9-8). The loss effectively ended any postseason for the Mount. ... Julian Watson hit the go-ahead jumper with 31 seconds left to lift visiting York (17-10) to a 61-58 win over St. Mary's (19-7) in a Capital Athletic Conference semifinal.

Salisbury's Jim Berkman became the first coach in any division of NCAA men's lacrosse to earn his 400th career win when the visiting Sea Gulls beat Mary Washington, 16-8, Wednesday. Matt Cannone (two goals, four assists) moved up to No. 2 in career points at Salisbury (12-0, 4-0 Capital Athletic Conference) with 306, trailing Jason Coffman with 451. Erik Krum led the Sea Gulls with seven points and six goals for the game. Goucher 13, Eastern 7: Matt Lynch and Zachary Fratella each had three goals and an assist to power the host Gophers (11-1)

Alex Aust recorded a career-high 10 points Wednesday, including a school-record six assists, as No. 5 Maryland beat host Princeton, 15-9. Aust led Maryland (12-3) in goals with four and was backed up by a trio of hat tricks from Katie Schwarzmann , Kelly McPartland and Kristy Black . Brooke Griffin had four points on a goal and three assists. The Tigers fell to 6-5. Maryland erased an early 3-1 deficit with an 11-0 run that capped the first half and began the second.
