"Four Blondes," by Candace Bushnell. Atlantic Monthly. 245 pages. $24. Is there anything the women from "Sex and the City" won't say or do? They drink like barflies, spawn like salmon and chatter like macaws about everything from "modelizers"(men who date only models) to "toxic bachelors" (men who are allergic to commitment). Honest, uncensored dishing about sex and men and more sex is what makes the HBO sitcom, based on Candace Bushnell's book by the same name, so appealing. The writing may not be especially rich, but like the perfect chocolate cupcake, it's sinfully sweet, tasty and harmless.

Coupling binoculars with a digital camera is one of those ideas that is long overdue. Bushnell, which has produced many a hard-working set of binoculars, has made this idea a reality with the ImageView ($100). Created for those who like to watch wildlife and sporting events, the ImageView handles its dual task admirably. The binoculars, at 10X strength, have been augmented with a digital camera located in a module between the two lens barrels. The camera does not shoot photographs through the binocular lenses but has its own 8X lens for pictures with focus at 40 feet to infinity.

"So, what are you wearing right now?" It's a kinky question, especially over the phone. But if glamour girl Candace Bushnell is on the line, it must be asked. She huskily describes a silk Tory Burch shirt paired with brown velvet pants and black velvet Yves Saint Laurent sandals. It seems that the Sex and the City creator - who has just stepped off a plane in Nashville, part of a whirlwind publicity tour for her latest book, Lipstick Jungle - wears strappy shoes even deep in cowboy boot territory.

Well, I guess we know now that nobody's perfect, even if she's wicked. Word last month was that convict Martha Stewart's team lost a prison decor contest. What hope is there for the everyman schlubs on Wickedly Perfect? CBS' new competition to crown "America's next great style maker" arrives laboring under one whale of a disadvantage: Who cares? It's not like somebody's valiantly surviving in the wilds or getting a plastic-surgery makeover that'll transform her life. These folks are designing centerpieces.
