One burglary suspect is dead and another is in jail following two break-ins in northern Baltimore County Tuesday and a subsequent fatal three-car collision on Dulaney Valley Road in Cockeysville, county police said Wednesday. Twenty-one-year-old Aaron Nathaniel McCoy Jr., of the 2600 block of W. Lafayette Ave. in Baltimore, was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center following an accident he triggered while fleeing police. Jenard David Toliver, 21, of the 2100 block of Baker St. in Baltimore, has been charged with two counts of first-degree burglary and one count of grand theft auto.

One person has died and three others are injured following a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Cockeysville, police said. Aaron Nathaniel McCoy Jr., 20, of the 4000 block of Cedardale Road in Baltimore, was killed when he drove into oncoming traffic while trying to elude police, who suspected him in a burglary, according to a statement Tuesday evening from Baltimore County Police. Around 2:30 p.m., police responded to a burglary in the 3200 block of Vance Road in Monkton and received a report that the burglars might be driving a gray Honda Accord.

A Sykesville man has been indicted on charges that he burglarized his neighbors' homes in Howard County, committing two break-ins at a residence whose owner told police his computer was taken and a third where a bottle of Viagra was stolen. A grand jury handed up indictments last week charging James Taylor Bell, 21, of the 1100 block of Underwood Road of multiple counts of burglary and theft. Police said in charging documents last month that he confessed and was charged Dec. 28. Charging documents say that county investigators linked Bell to burglaries committed Dec. 8 and Dec. 13 at a home in the 1100 block of Underwood Road through a laptop stolen from there.

A former UPS worker convicted of 11 federal felonies related to 50 burglaries and nine home invasion robberies is to be sentenced to 97 years in prison today. That's a stiff sentence even by federal standards. Jason Thomas Scott, 28, was convicted by a jury in the federal courthouse in Greenbelt. His convictions also include counts for armed carjacking, production of child pornography and theft of guns. He is, in short, a "professional criminal," as dubbed by the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office.

A quilt made by a prominent African-American textile artist and teacher was stolen during a burglary this month from the Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum in Oella, where it was on loan. The red-and-gold quilt owned by Joan M.E. Gaither, a former professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art , was missing after a break-in at the museum overnight on Dec. 19, Baltimore County police said. The burglar or burglars broke through a glass pane in a back door and threw a television, picture frame and a few items from the gift shop onto the floor.

According to a release from the Annapolis Police Department, officers responded to 93 calls for service and arrested 13 people in the past 24 hours. Here are a few recently reported crimes, according to police: Theft from vehicle : Between 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. Monday, an unknown suspect removed a black Gucci purse, money and Christmas presents from a vehicle in the 1000 block of President St., according to police. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle, police said.

A 48-year-old man was arrested after a short pursuit in connection with the Thursday morning burglary of a Glen Burnie hardware store, according to Anne Arundel County police. Officers from the Eastern District responded to an Ace Hardware store in the 7900 block of Crain Highway at approximately 3:30 a.m. Thursday and noticed Richard Scott Rotramel of Glen Burnie leaving the store's parking lot in a Chevy Cavalier, police said. Rotramel refused to stop, so officers followed the vehicle, according to police.

Anne Arundel County police arrested an 18-year-old man Saturday evening after he and a companion were spotted knocking at the door of a home in the 7900 block of Leeds Drive in Pasadena and peering in the windows. Officers responding to a call from neighbors, who said they saw the suspects climb over a backyard fence, arrested Zachary Ryan Mitchell of Pasadena as he was climbing back over the fence, police said. The rear sliding door of the home was open and items inside the house had been disturbed, police said.
