Jenkins Memorial Church will have its first golf open, starting at 7:30 a.m. May 23, at Rocky Point Golf Course in Baltimore County. Players and sponsors are needed.Tournament proceeds will benefit the church's sanctuary building fund."This tournament will help our efforts in one of the most aggressive building programs that we have ever taken on," said the Rev. Robert Douglas.The $60 entry fee includes greens fee and carts, gifts and prizes, a continental breakfast, outdoor luncheon at the 10th tee and a bull roast at the end of the day's competition.

With its bell tower, arched windows and handsome red-brick facade, the structure at 1427 Light St. looks like what it once was — an elementary school. Nothing about the 1890 building suggests that for the past 33 years, School 33 has been one of Baltimore's premier showcases for contemporary local art. That's about to change, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation that will help enhance the reputation of the nonprofit, city-run arts group with its neighbors, throughout the city and nationwide.

Maryland's spending board approved the final installment of $267 million in school construction spending Wednesday, bringing the state's investment in aging K-12 public campuses to more than $1 billion in three years. Gov. Martin O'Malley heralded the "historic" investment as proof of his commitment to education, and Comptroller Peter Franchot called the approval a "major step forward" toward rebuilding the infrastructure. O'Malley and Franchot sit on the board with Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp, who also voted for the installment, which goes to school districts across the state.
