Colleges Ex-Salisbury lacrosse assistant Dobbins leaves Ohio State Dave Dobbins , a member of the Ohio State men's lacrosse staff the past five years, is leaving his position to join 3d Lacrosse as director of Connecticut. Before Ohio State, Dobbins spent six years as an assistant coach at Salisbury, where he was named the 2005 DivisionIII Assistant Coach of the Year. The Sea Gulls won four national championships and were a national runner-up once during Dobbins' tenure. Men's basketball: Navy has announced its 2014-15 schedule, which includes the previously announced season opener against Michigan State, part of the inaugural Veterans Classic at the Naval Academy, at Alumni Hall on Nov. 14. The Midshipmen will play 18 Patriot League conference games and 12 nonconference games.

The Washington Capitals will open the 1994-95 season on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Oct. 1, the team announced yesterday.Highlights of the 84-game schedule include the home opener Oct. 7 against the Pittsburgh Penguins and visits by the Stanley Cup champion New York Rangers on Dec. 27, Jan. 14 and March 18.Washington's regular season ends April 8 at home against the Buffalo Sabres.

I walked into a bar in Fells Point on Saturday night and an amazing thing was going on. There was a hockey game on television and people were actual ly paying attention. BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Dominik Hasek made 20 saves and Randy Burridge had a goal and an assist to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers last night.The Sabres ended a three-game losing streak and won their first game since defeating Ottawa on opening night.Hasek needed to make just three saves in the first period and turned aside eight shots in the second period before allowing a power-play goal to Zdeno Ciger 3:18 into the final period.Mike Peca scored his second goal of the season, a power-play effort, 2:20 into the first period to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead.
