A 50-year-old Brooklyn Park man was robbed at gunpoint Friday afternoon near Edison Avenue and 4th Street, Anne Arundel County Police said. The man was walking home when he was accosted by two suspects, one of whom placed a handgun to his head and removed his wallet, police said. The two suspects fled east on Highland Avenue into Baltimore City. The victim was uninjured.

Anne Arundel County police said Friday that they know of no motive in the shooting of a Brooklyn Park man killed in his pickup truck in front of his home Thursday afternoon. Residents of the community were planning a candlelight vigil Friday night for Adam Ray Bucklew, 21, remembering him as a pleasant man who had recently been promoted at work. Police received a call about a shooting in the 400 block of Audrey Ave. about 5:30 p.m., and arrived to find Bucklew shot in his Dodge Dakota, in front of the home where he lived with his parents just outside Baltimore.

A Brooklyn Park man was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison for trying to kill his estranged wife in an bloody attack that took place a month after she left him in the wake of what prosecutors said was an earlier assault. "The difference between this case and a murder case is only the grace of God," Anne Arundel County Circuit Judge Paul A. Hackner told William C. Ward III, 44. The judge also cut off contact between Ward, a construction worker, and the couple's three sons - one of whom saved his mother's life - telling Ward that the only way for Rachel Ward and the children to move along in life "is for you not be a part of it" unless a family law judge says otherwise.

Anne Arundel County Police are investigating the shooting of a Brooklyn Park man who was found dead in a car near his home Thursday. Police were responding to calls for a shooting in the 400 block of Audrey Avenue at about 5:35 p.m. when they found Adam Ray Bucklew, 21, inside a vehicle with several gunshot wounds. Police said witnesses reported seeing two men flee from the area, but they were not found after officers combed the area. One man was described as a black, in his late teens to early 20s, 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, with a bald head and a large tattoo on his left arm, police said.

A second suspect was arrested Wednesday night on charges that he killed a Brooklyn Park man who was in his vehicle near his home July 1, said Anne Arundel County police. Rodney Barnwell, 22, was apprehended about 10 p.m. in a home on Ludlow Street in Philadelphia, where he has ties, according to police. A July 28 warrant for Barnwell and another man charged them with first-degree murder, armed robbery and related counts in the death of Adam Ray Bucklew, 21, of the 400 block of Audrey Ave. Bucklew was found apparently shot to death in his vehicle in front of his home.

A 31-year-old Brooklyn Park man was arrested Tuesday night and charged in the robbery of his former employer, police said.Police said a man had entered Wayson's Citgo Service Center in the 500 block of Camp Meade Road about 10 p.m. and ordered the store clerk to give him money. When the clerk refused, the robber warned that he was armed with a gun, police said.The clerk gave an undisclosed amount of cash to the man, who left in a cab, police said. The clerk was known to the suspect, police said.

Police seeking a suspect in an assault arrested a Brooklyn Park man Wednesday on a handgun charge.Alan C. Smith, 54, of the 5200 block of Brookwood Road was charged with illegal possession of a handgun.Officer Todd Powell said he was on Brookwood Road about 7: 30 a.m. when he saw a man who fit the description of a suspect in an assault.Powell and Officer Michael Guy stopped the man, searched him and found a 9 mm handgun.The man said he did not have a permit to carry a gun, and the officers arrested him on the handgun charge.

A Brooklyn Park man was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with trying to shoplift $42 worth of shampoo from a Brooklyn Park Rite Aid store, county police said yesterday.Barry Cornish, 30, a security officer, saw a man walk into the store in the first block of Hammonds Lane about 6:10 p.m. and hide 10 bottles of shampoo inside his shirt. He left the store without paying for the merchandise, and Mr. Cornish stopped him.James Bennett, 31, of the 900 block of Victory Ave., was charged with misdemeanor theft.

A Baltimore man was sentenced in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court to 60 years in prison Friday for his part in the 2010 fatal robbery of a Brooklyn Park man, according to court records. Rodney R. Barnwell, 23, had pleaded guilty in March to first-degree murder in the slaying of Adam Ray Bucklew. The 21-year-old victim was found shot to death in July 2010 in his vehicle near his home in the 400 block Audrey Avenue. A second suspect, Ricky L. Mason, 24, was sentenced earlier to 55 years in prison in the case, court records show.

A Brooklyn Park couple were hospitalized in serious but stable condition with stab wounds Monday and the husband is the suspect in the assault, Anne Arundel County police said. Police said the husband had stabbed his wife and himself, adding that the man, whom they identified as a suspect under police guard, will be charged when he is released from the hospital. They are both at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Officers went to the couple's home around 8 p.m. Sunday after a report of a domestic assault and found the 37-year-old woman and her husband each with several stab wounds, police said.

Police arrested a 22-year-old Brooklyn Park man at Arundel Mills mall after he tried to ram a Baltimore police car before leading police on a chase along the Baltimore Washington Parkway, Maryland State Police said Monday. According to police, the incident began around 11:30 a.m., when city police saw a man participating in a suspected drug deal in South Baltimore and believed he had a gun. Police tried to stop the man, who was driving a 1998 Honda Accord. When the man wouldn't stop, the pursuit began, according to police.

Police in Anne Arundel County are looking for three teenagers they believe were involved in a fatal shooting early Friday during a robbery gone awry. Officers were summoned to the 100 block of W. Edgevale Road in Brooklyn Park about 12:30 a.m. Friday to investigate a shooting. When they arrived, the officers discovered Eric Javonn Hill, 30, inside his car, with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Hill, of the 200 block of W. Edgevale Road, was taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

A Brooklyn Park man was assaulted and robbed of his wallet in his back yard Sunday, county police said.Robert Jay Tomalski, 64, told police he had been drinking at a bar in Curtis Bay and returned to his home in the 200 block of Doris Ave. shortly after 11 p.m.Just before Tomalski reached the back door, someone grabbed him, sprayed his face with a chemical and knocked him to the ground, police said.The thief took Tomalski's wallet with an undisclosed amount of money and ran. Tomalski refused medical attention.

While Jason Elder is packing inflatable beach balls, Frisbees and footballs for his trip tomorrow, he's not exactly going on vacation. The Brooklyn Park resident is flying to Haiti to help orphans, and he is also taking his expertise as a sports instructor at the YMCA branch in Pasadena. Elder, 29, will be in Port-de-Paix with the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission until Aug. 12 to help put the finishing touches on a church and start a YMCA-affiliated sports program at the mission's orphanage.
