Since the times of Roman mythology, June has been known as the luckiest time to have a wedding. Consider the month's namesake, Juno, who was not only a warrior at heart, but a goddess of marriage. To prepare for the big day, though, most brides-to-be need more than just luck. Nearly 15 years ago, Sara Felder wanted a traditional Jewish wedding. But without the approval of the religious community - and her parents - she stood no chance of achieving this goal. Fortunately, Felder did marry and tells the tale in June Bride, a one-woman comedic performance based on the obstacles she fought to marry her true love - a woman.

If Kill Bill Vol. 1 was bloody exhilarating, Vol. 2 is bloody great. And, as a bonus, not nearly so bloody. Writer-director Quentin Tarantino, who initially envisioned Kill Bill as a single four-hour movie, now has crafted a second volume that stands firmly on its own (not to take anything away from Vol. 1, which was wonderful in its own right). Kill Bill Vol. 2 takes Uma Thurman's Bride character, essentially a cipher in the first film, adds all sorts of layers and transforms her from a killing machine to a woman of remarkable depth and complexity.

James and Teresa Crumpler of Forest Hill announce the marriage of their daughter, Jamie Teresa Crumpler, to Christopher Sean Kalck, son of Lawrence and Geraldine Kalck of Fallston. Their wedding and reception took place on Saturday, April 6 at 6 p.m. at The Belvedere in Baltimore City. The bridal party included bridesmaids Desiree Ortman, Amber Lotocki, Jennifer Cloud, friends of the bride; Karen McCormick, sister of the groom; and Matron of Honor Christy Lylo, aunt of the bride.

The marriage of Martha Boone Orr, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Marshall Orr III, to Robert Jenkins Proutt Jr., all of Richmond, Virginia, son of Mrs. Deborah Williams Steele & Mr. Robert Jenkins Proutt of Baltimore, took place Saturday, June 10 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond. The Reverend Gary Durward Jones officiated at the ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her parents, is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Diggs Orr of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the late Mr. Samuel Marshall Orr, Jr., & the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ring Pfeffer.

Elizabeth Lynn McSpadden, daughter of Jay and Betsy McSpadden, of Havre de Grace, and Adam Joseph Hasenfus, son of Eric and Cheryl Hasenfus, of Rome, Maine, were married June 24 at the Kent Manor Inn on Kent Island. The ceremony was performed by Harford County Circuit Court Judge Emory A Plitt Jr. Megan Jollett, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stacie McSpadden, sister-in-law of the bride, Leah Smith and Shauna Myles, sisters of the groom, Abbie Moyer, Kerri DiMartino, Angela Berger, Heather McHugh, Katie Quinzi and Kim Bageant , friends of the bride.

Mr. Ted Lewis of Violetville, MD is pleased to announce the marriage of his daughter Jamie Ann Lewis to Cosimo Colonna, son of Rosanna and Pasquale Colonna of Biella, Italy. The bride is also the daughter of Carol Moore of Ohio. The ceremony took place on April 14, 2007 at the Castello Doria, Portovenere, Italy and a reception followed at the Royal Sporting Hotel. The bride's Maids of Honor were April Lewis, the bride's sister, and Meigan Herrick, friend. Bridesmaids were Heather Long, bride's sister, and Marianna Colonna, groom's sister.

Edith Brooks Sneeringer and Stephen Edward Schatz were married at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Baltimore, Maryland on May 10, 2008. The bride was attended by her sister Ms. K. Tierney Sneeringer and the groom by his brother Mr. Michael J. Schatz Jr.. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jesse L.H. Brooks and the step-daughter of Mr. A. Gregory Manuel of Timonium. The bride is the grand-daughter of Mrs. John H. Brooks Sr. and the late Mr. Brooks of Timonium. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Schatz Sr. of Rego Park, New York.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard W. Mc Jilton, of Dundalk, MD, are pleased to announce the wedding of their daughter, Holly Ann, to Mr. Stephen J. Di Costanzo, son of Elaine Candelori Di Costanzo, of Hamilton, NJ, and Christopher Di Costanzo, of Lawrenceville NJ. Holly and Stephen were united in marriage on August 28, 2004. Linda Ann Tuur Willin and James Robert Fullerton, Jr. were united in marriage on May 7, 2005 at Lovely Lane U.M. Church in Baltimore. A reception followed at The Castle at Maryvale in Brooklandville. The bride is the daughter of Mary Ann and Peter Saar, of Baltimore, MD, and John and Gail Willin, of Towson, MD. The groom is the son of James Fullerton, Sr., of Gaithersburg, MD and Lucia Fullerton, of Riva, MD. Attending the bride as Matron of Honor was Carolyn Flores, college friend of the bride.

In the midst of the summer wedding season's waltzing and toasting, many avowed collectors are matching up with romantic collectibles that are hard to top: bride-and-groom wedding-cake ornaments. These mementos of weddings past vary from traditional forms to humorous or even lewd figures, come in all shapes and sizes, are made of a host of materials, date from the late 19th century to the present, and generally range in price from about $10 at flea markets and gift shops to more than $300 each in antiques shops specializing in fine Victorian keepsakes.
