COLLEGE PARK - When he's healthy, Braxton Miller is a star, a dynamic and multidimensional threat at quarterback and one of the top offensive weapons in the country. But even without Miller, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during preseason practice, Ohio State's offense is still gaining a lot of yards and scoring a lot of points in recent weeks. The play of Miller's replacement, redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett, is one of the primary reasons why. Slowing Barrett down and trying to force the young quarterback into mistakes will be key for Maryland heading into Saturday's game against No. 20 Ohio State at Byrd Stadium.

Singer Toni Braxton is grappling with guilt from an abortion she had years ago. In her newly-published memoir, "Unbreak My Heart," Braxton writes that she wonders if her younger son's autism could be a punishment from God because she had an abortion.  Braxton grew up an extremely religious family in Severn.  She wasn't allowed to wear pants -- only skirts and dresses -- and was forbidden from going to the movies, the NY Daily News reports.  " Homework was usually neglected because children at the church where her parents worshiped were obliged to memorize 26 scriptures a week," according to the NY Daily News.  After the singer got engaged to her now-ex husband, she became pregnant while taking the anti-acne drug Accutane, which poses serious health risks to fetuses.

In February, Severn native Toni Braxton said she was ready to retire from music to focus on acting. Even though the 45-year-old singer has sold more than 60 million records worldwide and has six Grammy Awards on her shelf, Braxton was "a little depressed" at the time, she says now. It took a pep talk from an old friend - Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, the songwriter who helped launch the singer's career - to uplift and reinvigorate Braxton. "He understood what I was going through.

Toni Braxton -- who was born in Severn, Md. -- just might be singing the blues about the real estate market. Her home in Atlanta, recently foreclosed on, is now for sale for $1.1 million, TMZ reports. And according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the property has sat on the market for more than four months. It's not because the place doesn't look nice -- at least on the outside. Built in 2001, it's nearly 12,000 square feet and red-bricked, with seven bathrooms, six full baths and a pretty sweet-sounding master bath jacuzzi.

Bret Michaels did it. Bobby Brown did it too, to much less success. So did Paula Abdul. The preferred vehicle for a musical comeback is not on the charts any more but on reality television. The latest to join that rich tradition is Toni Braxton, the Severn native who was one of the highest-selling artists of the 1990s but has seen her sales droop to dramatic lows, just 145,000 units for last year's "Pulse. " In the last decade she has also taken personal blows, a multimillion-dollar bankruptcy filed earlier this year being the most recent to attract unflattering attention from the tabloids.

Makeba Riddick stepped off a plane in New York City, exhausted after spending weeks in London working with the Black Eyed Peas, only to get a call from her manager. The record label needed Riddick to fly to Milan immediately and cut a song with pop star Rihanna. The song, "Live Your Life" — a single for the rapper T.I., featuring Rihanna, was almost finished, but the label wanted Riddick to write Rihanna's lyrics and help guide the young singer through her verse. Riddick threw a mini-temper tantrum, then took a deep breath and reluctantly boarded a plane.
