Todd Mueller has been promoted to branch manager for the Gateway Plaza office of The Columbia Bank, in Columbia. He previously was the associate branch manager of the bank's Ellicott City office. Mueller has been with The Columbia Bank since 2004. Mueller will oversee the day-to-day banking operations of the Gateway Plaza Office, develop new business opportunities and integrate the bank into programs and initiatives that benefit the local community. Musu-mesi Davies has been promoted to branch manager for the Clinton office of The Columbia Bank, in Prince George's County.

Marshall Norval "Buzz" Ragsdale, a retired National Cash Register sales executive, died of complications from multiple myeloma Saturday at his Timonium home. He was 91. Born in East Orange, N.J., he was a 1939 graduate of East Orange High School and attended Bucknell University, where he played freshman basketball. In July 1942, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Va. He then served with Marine Fighting Squadron 314 on Midway, Ie Shima and Okinawa.

The Baltimore County Public Library has named a new branch manager for the Perry Hall Library. Cindy Kleback, a 15-year veteran of library work, was announced Tuesday as the new manager at the Perry Hall branch, 9685 Honeygo Blvd. Library officials said that prior to joining the county library system, Kleback worked at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore for nine years, and most recently served as branch manager of the Southeast Anchor Library in Highlandtown, where she was on staff when the library opened in 2007.

A former M&T Bank Corp. branch manager has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Baltimore on charges of embezzling more than $221,000 over several months last summer and fall. The nine-count indictment accuses Natalie Marie Pearson, 29, of Fallston of diverting bank funds and tapping into customer lines of credit for personal use in a scheme that grew more brazen as the months went on. Pearson managed M&T's North Plaza branch in the 8800 block of Walthen Road in Baltimore. Each count of embezzlement carries a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and/or a $1 million fine plus restitution.

Businesses in Annapolis near where President Barack Obama met with Senate Democrats on Wednesday said road closures for security were affecting them, with some shutting their doors. "I had to shut down until 2. Nobody can get in," said Riccardo Santoro, owner of Varuna Aveda Salon Spa in the Park Place complex, adjacent to the meeting. He said the closing, due to the expected traffic woes, was his decision — and he expected to lose about $1,200 in revenue. City streets closed right around Westgate Circle, where the Westin Annapolis hotel is located.

Charles Pomeroy Ives III, a state of Maryland telecommunications worker who immersed himself in history causes from North Point to Carroll County, died in his sleep of a circulatory illness Oct. 20 at his Stoneleigh home. He was 63. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., and raised in Loch Raven Village, he was a 1967 Towson High School graduate. He had belonged to the Boy Scouts. His grandfather, C.P. Ives, was a Sun editorial writer from 1939 to 1973. Mr. Ives earned a bachelor's degree in history at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa. He worked at Baltimore banks, the Venable law firm and Ciena.

UPDATED - Baltimore County police said a man was arrested Aug. 17, in connection with a robbery that occurred this morning at the PNC Bank branch located inside the Giant Food in Towson. According to Elise Armacost, director of media and communications for the Police Department, the incident occurred Friday, Aug. 17, at about 10:30 a.m. Armacost said a man entered the supermarket branch in the 6300 block of York Road and passed the branch manager a note demanding money and threatening "bodily harm," she said.
