What a difference a year makes.In 1989, a ministry group from a Hampstead church was denied access when it tried to enter Romania.Last November, the group -- called Project Barnabas II -- not only entered the country, but distributed scripture and visited an orphanage. The group also ministered in the Soviet Union.The Rev. Chris Brammer, 36, pastor of Hampstead Baptist Church, undertook a trip to Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union with a team of 12 pastors, 18 students and 18 lay people.

Mount St. Joseph wrestler Kevin Neville always is seeking challenge.Take Tuesday's Senior All-Star Classic at Johns Hopkins, where the 152-pound National Prep runner-up scored a technical fall over his first of two opponents -- Old Mill's fifth-ranked state champ Todd Hultgren.The next opponent for Neville, a two-time Maryland Scholastic Association champ, was Loch Raven's sixth-ranked, two-time regional champ, Mike Brammer. Neville entered the event ranked No. 2 behind Rising Sun's Jason Townsend, a junior who just three days earlier had pinned Brammer in 1:40 for his second straight 2A-1A title.

It's the location of the "Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shootout" golf tee and hole-in-one range sponsored by Hospice Services of Howard County.Thursday through Sunday, golfers (actual and wannabes) may compete for hourly and daily prizes and the opportunity to play in Sunday's event.Players pay a dollar and tee off aiming for the qualifying circle that automatically enters them in Sunday's shootout.

Owen Brown Community Association is justly proud of Boy Scout Troop 613, which it sponsors.The troop won first place in the first Howard County Envirothon Competition.Venture Crew members Life Scouts John Anders, Steve Barth, Chris Lay and Justin Earp, First Class Scout Russell Brammer and Explorer Scout Valerie Brammer have been working on their project since January.They attended workshops at the University of Maryland Extension Farm to gain expertise in the five project divisions: wildlife, forestry, soils, aquatics and ground water.
