One of the many strengths on the 2012 Calvert Hall boys lacrosse team is an attack that features a handful of players capable of taking over a game. But when the No. 1 Cardinals were getting a significant push from No. 4 Boys' Latin in Tuesday's Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference semifinal, it was no surprise that All-Metro senior Patrick Kelly was the one who took on the lead role. Kelly finished with four goals and four assists - scoring three straight goals in the decisive second half which gave his team its final lead - and the Cardinals survived a final-possession scare to come away with a 11-10 win over Boys' Latin at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson.

So far this season, the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference in boys lacrosse has been a week-by-week ride of unpredictability with one major exception: No. 1 Boys' Latin. While the rest of the teams in the demanding league have taken turns knocking each other off in a pool of talented parity, the Lakers have remained the lone constant. More proof came on Friday when the Lakers were able to wear down determined Calvert Hall with a dominating second half to come away with a sturdy 15-11 home win. Junior attackman Wells Stanwick led the way with three-goals and six assists while senior Kevin O'Neil adding five goals.
