Victoria Gastro Pub Executive Chef Joe Krywucki reflects: Seasonal cooking is always best, especially when you have access to high quality ingredients. We use an all-natural Duroc pork, which has a superior flavor and tenderness, and local Baugher's Farm Honey Crisp apples. Pork Tenderloin 1.    Season the pork tenderloin with salt and pepper. 2.    Pan sear the pork in clarified butter until golden brown. 3.    Roast in oven at 350 degrees F until desired temperature.

At Saturday's Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association football championships at Towson University, a collection box will be set up for socks and football cleats that will be donated to children in Kenya. The collection is being coordinated by two brothers on the St. Paul's football team -- junior linebacker Keifer Rawlings and freshman quarterback Kurt Rawlings. The boys are asking for socks and cleats size 8 or smaller for the orphans in Kenya. Keifer was featured in a Baltimore Sun article earlier this year as part of a Fellowship of Christian Athletes mission trip to the African country . The Crusaders are playing in the B Conference championship game against John Carroll at noon.

Ravens defensive coordinator Dean Pees is making a smart move by calling his defenses from the press box instead of being on the field. I can understand each method -- staying on the field or up in the press box -- but the Ravens have a lot of young players on the field, with the exception of safety Ed Reed and outside linebacker Terrell Suggs. I'm not sure the communication with Pees was as good as it should have been, especially when you lose players like Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb to injuries, or veterans like Jarret Johnson or Cory Redding to free agency.

Pop tunes blasted from loudspeakers into the cavernous warehouse at the Maryland Food Bank on Thursday, energizing about 300 volunteers filling 15,000 boxes with holiday staples for the needy. "You can get exercise, help those who don't have a meal for the holiday, and then there's the whole camaraderie thing with your co-workers," said Gerri Gardner, the liveliest of the CSX railroad's packing team, which included workers from MTA and MARC trains. This time of year, the bank, which distributes food to about 600 soup kitchens, pantries and shelters across the state from its Halethorpe headquarters, gears up for its own Thanksgiving rush.

Southworth reflects: I chose this particular dish because I love the smell of slow-cooking meat on a brisk fall day. The slow cooking breaks down the meat to make it melt in your mouth. And I just love blue cheese (Gorgonzola) with beef; the flavors burst in your mouth. The Calvados Sidecar pairs nicely with the meal, especially because of the fall-evoking apple flavor of the brandy. Cab Braised Short Rib Ingredients: Short Rib: •    4 pounds beef short ribs •    1 tablespoon fresh rosemary •    1 tablespoon fresh thyme •    1 tablespoon kosher salt •    1 tablespoon black salt •    ¼ cup vegetable oil •    1 750-milliliter cabernet sauvignon •    1 tablespoon butter •    1 tablespoon all-purpose flour Polenta: •    5 cups chicken stock •    1 ¾ cups polenta •    ¾ cup crumbled Gorgonzola •    ¿ cup heavy cream Gremolata: •    ¼ cup chopped parsley •    3 tablespoons grated lemon zest •    2 cloves garlic, minced •    2 tablespoons chopped rosemary •    2 tablespoons chopped thyme Directions: Mix rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper and sprinkle over ribs.

The $20 "Karma" tickets will only be available at the Merriweather Post Pavilion South box office and the 9:30 Club box office from noon to 6 p.m. (or until they run out) Friday. There will be a two-ticket limit. Proceeds will go toward the Re*Generation House, Virgin Mobile's new homeless youth shelter in Washington. Chef Celeste Gebler reflects: Earlier in my career … when I had to cook for myself … I created this dish because it only used one pan and it incorporated all of the basic food groups in one meal. Back then all I could afford was chicken, so that is really how it was born. At Luna Bella we use shrimp and scallops because this dish works well with any protein. We believe you eat with your eyes first, and this dish is visually beautiful. Shrimp and Scallop Rose Marie Ingredients: - 3 U10-15 shrimp, peeled and deveined - 2 U10 sea scallops dry packed (not packed in water)

Bridesmaids gifts are tricky. Getting your bridesmaids accessories to wear for the wedding (which seems to be customary) is a nice gesture but can come off as controlling. You've already (most likely) picked out their dress, given notes on hair and make up, and told them which shoes to buy. Gifting them matching jewelry to be worn on the day of could be met with a complicated mix of gratitude and attitude. I've been struggling with what to give my bridesmaids, and my research inspired me to come up with a list of suggestions for other brides.

It has been said that many of America's future heavyweight boxing champions are hidden on various football fields and basketball courts across the country. Gone are the days of supreme athletes choosing a career between the ropes over one in the NFL  or NBA.  But now, seven knee surgeries later, a former linebacker has gone from the football field and into the ring in an attempt to bring the heavyweight title back to the United States.  ...
