I've come to think of it as the political equivalent of global warming: Election season seems to get longer and more heated every cycle. I'm not quite as distressed about this as that little girl from Colorado, melting down because she's tired of "Bronco Bama" and Mitt Romney. (Although, note to Mom: your kid is upset, however cutely, and your first thought is to grab your phone and YouTube her?) But really, the noise level this year has been close to deafening, even here in the decidedly unswingy-state of Maryland.

Cal Ripken Jr. will be in the broadcast booth for TBS during the wild-card and division series rounds. The Hall of Fame former Oriole has previously served as a studio analyst for TBS's postseason coverage, but he made his in-booth debut during an Orioles-Yankees game at Camden Yards earlier this month. Ripken will join play-by-play voice Ernie Johnson and John Smoltz for wild-card and division round coverage. It has not yet been determined which games and series that crew will work.

The Mid-Atlantic Sports Network  has done away with the combined broadcast booth for Orioles-Nationals games this season, opting for separate telecasts when the teams play their interleague series in July. Pete Kerzel, MASNsports.com's managing editor, wrote about the change on their website this afternoon . The teams play at Nationals Park on July 7-8 and at Camden Yards on July 9-10. For each game, the home team will have its telecast on MASN, with the visitors' broadcasters on MASN2, Kerzel wrote.
