Maryland Natural Resources Police were working Saturday to establish the identity of a person whose body washed ashore from the Chesapeake Bay and was found about 4:45 p.m. Friday. Natural Resources Police Sgt. Art Windemuth said it might take days to learn the person's identity using fingerprints and other methods. A resident called Anne Arundel County 911 on Friday after finding the body in the Beverly-Triton Beach Park in Mayo. - Larry Carson

A body was located in the Baltimore Harbor near Canton on Wednesday evening, according to city police. About 6:43 p.m., a police marine unit was dispatched to the water near the intersection of Boston and Leakin streets for reports of a body. Police are investigating the discovery as a suspicious death, said Detective Nicole Monroe, a police spokeswoman. A cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner, and the person has not been identified. No further information was immediately available.

Police are investigating the discovery of a body found in the woods in Middle Branch Park in South Baltimore. A man's body was found in a wooded area off a trail at about 11:30 a.m., police said. The man appeared to have suffered trauma, and the body will be transported to the medical examiner for further investigation. At the scene, overlooking the Middle Branch of the Patapsco River, officers could be seen talking with a group of young people, with an officer walking one person out of the woods.

The Baltimore Sun Police are investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered Sunday evening on the Gwynns Falls Trail in northwest Baltimore. A female jogger on the trail in the vicinity of 3900 block Windsor Mill Road spotted the body and called police about 6:19 p.m., according to Det. Jeremy Silbert, city police spokesman. The body appears to be that of an adult woman and appears to have been the victim of some sort of trauma, Silbert said. It has been transported to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

UPDATE, 3:18 P.M.: The Sun can confirm that the body found yesterday has been determined to be that of Phylicia Barnes, according to two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation. UPDATE, 3:13 P.M.: Charlotte television station WBTV reporter Derrick Rose wrote on Twitter that Phylicia's father confirms that the body found yesterday is his daughter. We are awaiting confirmation from state police. Baltimore police have provided dental records of missing teenager Phylicia Barnes to the state medical examiner's office for comparison to a body pulled from the Susquehanna River, and a determination is expected this afternoon, an official told The Sun. An apparent tattoo located on a woman's body found north of the Conowingo Dam Wednesday has raised questions over whether the body is that of Barnes, WBAL-TV is reporting.

A body was found in a burned car near Hunt Valley Thursday morning, according to Baltimore County Police. The 2010 Toyota Camry went across the front yard of a house in the 1300 block of Phoenix Road in Phoenix, went down a slope, crashed into a tree and eventually burst into flames shortly before 9:30 a.m., said Cpl. George Erhardt. Police did not identify the victim, believed to be a woman, Erhardt said. Crash, arson and homicide teams are investigating the incident.

A man was found dead in the Inner Harbor on Sunday morning, police said. Baltimore Police Detective Angela Carter-Watson said that at 9:06 a.m., police received a report of a person in the water at the 400 block of East Pratt Street. Police responded and recovered the body of the man. Police have not identified the man. The body of an older man was found Wednesday morning in a field in Northeast Baltimore, according to police. The man, estimated to be between 65 and 70 years old, was found about 7:45 a.m. at Argonne and Parkside drives, police said. Baltimore police are at Windsor Hills Elementary/Middle School in Northwest Baltimore after a body of a young man was discovered on the edge of school grounds Friday morning. The school has been closed for the day. Anthony Guglielmi, a department spokesman, said the body if of a man 18 to 20 years old. It was found sometime between 7 and 7:30 a.m., before school opened for the day. Guglielmi did not know who made the discovery. The school is located in the 4100 block of Alto Road, several blocks from the heavily wooded Leakin Park, and south of Lake Ashburton.
