He's back ... unless he's not. Rumors that Michael Phelps, already the most decorated Olympian, is planning to come out of retirement sent the swimming community abuzz Friday night. Phelps, the Baltimore native who retired with a lifetime 22 medals, 18 of them gold after the 2012 London Games, threw some water on the notion that spread after a blogger and a Florida television station said he was headed back to the pool. The Baltimore sports scene is blessed with a bunch of talented bloggers who bring their unique perspective to the conversation. Each week, I hope to chat with one of them in a regular feature called Blogger on Blogger. This week, I exchanged emails with Amanda Redman, who blogs about the Orioles for the Birds Watcher blog . MV: The Orioles entered Monday night's AL East showdown with the New York Yankees with five straight losses, all at home. I know there is still a long way and many, many games between now and late September, but are you concerned that these Orioles might be finally falling back to Earth?

One of the region's nightmares — the kidnapping and murder of an 11-year-old girl on Maryland's Eastern Shore during Christmas 2009 — came to its public conclusion Tuesday morning at the Elkton courthouse. The accused killer, a 31-year-old convicted sex offender named Thomas Leggs, pleaded guilty and received life in prison without the possibility of parole. The family of the victim, Sarah Foxwell, had asked the state not to pursue capital punishment. "The Foxwell family has told me that they do not want a lifetime of anguish and appeals, due to the extreme stress, havoc and grief the death of Sarah has caused them and their need to begin healing from this horrible, despicable crime," the Wicomico County state's attorney, Matthew Maciarello, told reporters.

Hello, Baltimore. I'm the newest writer on the Married in Maryland blog, and will be chronicling my journey from girlfriend to wife. I'm sure I'll use my space here to talk about centerpieces, dresses, guest lists and all that gooey wedding stuff - - but I hope I'll also remember to focus on the non-material things that being engaged is also about.  I thought to kick things off I'd tell you my engagement story, which is still fresh in my mind as it was only a few weeks ago. But quickly, the back story: I'd been dating my boyfriend Sam for over a decade, and many of those years were long distance.

Professional wrestling has been a part of my life since the age of 3, when I first saw Hulk Hogan inside the squared circle. But it wasn't just "Hulkamania" that got me hooked on wrestling; I couldn't learn enough about every single superstar that graced the ring. For me, pro wrestling was always the complete package of athleticism, drama, pageantry and larger-than-life characters that leaped through my television screen. In 2005 I started to get involved with pro wrestling at the independent level, promoting local events in the Toronto area and in northern Ontario.
