Kathleen Avery Stalter and Dale Edward Bittinger were married on November 6, 2004 at St. Mary's Star of the Sea. A reception followed at Flag House Star-Spangled Banner Museum. The bride is the daughter of Renee Stalter and the late F. Lyle Stalter, of Timonium, MD. She graduated from University of Baltimore and is Assistantto the president of Chef's Expressions Catering. The groom is the son of Don Bittinger and Esther Trawtwein, of Oakland, MD. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Public Policy and is Associate Director of Admissions at UMBC.

Jen Adams had three goals and five assists and became the Terrapins' all-time leading point scorer as top-ranked Maryland (3-0) downed No. 10 Syracuse, 11-7, yesterday in College Park. Adams had eight points, bringing the total to 133 for her career and breaking the previous mark of 132 set by Kelly Amonte. Adams has 23 points through three games to lead the Terps this season. Maryland jumped to a 3-0 lead on goals from Adams, Sonia Judd and Allison Comito. Syracuse fought back to tie the score at 4 at the 18:11 mark of the first half.

A Garrett County deer hunter was shot and killed yesterday afternoon when the vehicle he was riding in overturned and his rifle accidentally fired.John Surrick, manager of the state Natural Resources Police, said Clifford R. Bittinger, 37, of the 500 block of New Germany Road in Swanton, was riding with a friend in a four-wheel-drive vehicle about 2 p.m in the 6600 block of Glendale Road in Swanton.When the vehicle struck a large rock and overturned, Surrick said, the man's 50-caliber muzzleloader fired, hitting him in the chest.

County police have issued a warrant for the arrest of an Edgewater man after two men were attacked with bricks Saturday in the garage of a home in Edgewater.Colleen Brown, 47, of the 800 block of Hillside Drive in Edgewater told police she heard shouting in her garage shortly before midnight and called police. When she went to the garage to check, she found two men throwing bricks and stones at her son, Thomas Harris, and his friend Gene Bittinger, also of Edgewater, police said.Brown grabbed a broomstick and approached one of the attackers, but the man yanked the stick from her and struck her on the left hand with it, police said.
