DONNA MICHELLE MORTON, age 52, of Birmingham, AL, and a native of Baltimore, Maryland, passed on January 20, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin P. and Willie Mae Morton. She is survived by two sisters, Patricia Hayes (Gene), Yvette Morton (Daniel); two brothers, Benjamin and Leslie Morton; four nephews, two nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Davenport & Harris Funeral Home, Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be held in the Davenport & Harris Chapel on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with burial at Zion Memorial Gardens.

Benjamin Franklin Perry, a retired Black & Decker Corp. test engineer who assisted in the development of the drill that was carried by the astronauts aboard the Apollo 11 moon mission, died of heart failure July 29 at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He was 87. Mr. Perry, the son of a Pennsylvania Railroad tower operator and a homemaker, was born and raised in an Ashland, Baltimore County, rowhouse. "It was called Stone Row, and there were no indoor plumbing facilities or electricity," said his son, Michael S. Perry of Phoenix, Baltimore County.

Benjamin C. Castro, a former businessman and Northwood resident, died Tuesday of cardiac arrest at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, Mass. He was 81. Mr. Castro was born and raised in Pampanga province in the Philippines. He attended the University of the Philippines, where he studied medicine. With the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted as a second lieutenant in the Philippine army, which fought alongside U.S. forces. The Philippines eventually fell to the Japanese. In 1944, Mr. Castro was part of the Philippine army that regrouped under U.S. forces under the command of Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
