T. Scott Beckman is a man with a very raunchy sense of humor. He's also a man running for Circuit Court judge in Baltimore County. Does one thing have anything to do with the other? For most voters, it's probably a matter of degree. The trouble is, to help you fully appreciate Beckman's raunchiness, I'd have to go into territory where this family newspaper isn't going to let me go. Luckily, the sitting judges whom Beckman is challenging have created a website that pulls together lots of unfit-for-print Beckman ribaldry.

KINGSTON, R.I. - Matt Beckman had nothing to do with his Soccer Club of Baltimore 88 Bays team allowing a goal that tied the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I U-12 semifinal late yesterday. Still, he felt he had to do something about it. Two minutes later and a couple of minutes from completion, Beckman scored the game-winner that sent the Bays into the U-12 boys final. The Bays beatWestern United of Massachusetts, 2-1. Beckman started his run on the left flank and, by the time he dribbled into the left corner of the box with a defender on his left shoulder, he knew what he had to do. "I was looking for the far post," said the striker from Dundalk.

ACC petitioning to limit NBA draft status window col. basketball The Atlantic Coast Conference is pushing for legislation to sharply reduce the time given underclassmen to decide their NBA draft status, and league president John Swofford said the movement has support from the other five major conferences. According to current rules, underclassmen must declare for the draft in late April and have until mid-June to withdraw and return to school if they haven't hired an agent. Under the proposal, that period would be cut to seven to 10 days after the Final Four.

William Gaines' college journalism class flunked the test; Chase Culeman-Beckman's high school paper, though he didn't get an "A" when he turned it in in the late 1990s, should have put him at the head of the class. A three-decade national guessing game is over: W.
