Four Carroll seniors have been chosen to serve as student pages during the 1992 legislative session in Annapolis.The program, designed to interest young people in state government, has been in operationfor 23 years. Students maintain bill books of individual delegates and senators, run errands, distribute literature and provide general assistance to legislators.Pages selected from Carroll this year are Christine Bach, Jennifer Harman, Meegan Lawson and Karen Walker.Christine, the daughter of Joseph and Bonnie Bach of Union Bridge, is a student at Francis Scott Key High.

Barbara Walker named principal at RunnymedeThe Board of Education has appointed Barbara C. Walker to be the first principal at Runnymede Elementary School, scheduled to open in September.Ms. Walker has been assistant principal at Taneytown Elementary School since 1989. Many of the children who attend that school will switch to Runnymede when it opens.She has 14 years of experience, 11 of them in Carroll County. Before coming to Carroll in 1982, she taught in Delaware and Pennsylvania.Ms. Walker lives on Littlestown Pike in Westminster.

On Sept. 18, Barbara and Allen Walker, of Felton, Pa., were surprised with a party to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their wedding. The two were married Dec. 16, 1961 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bel Air where they continued to live until their retirement. The party was at Jarrettsville Gardens. The couple's three children, Catherine Arnold and husband, Douglas, of Kearneysville, W.Va., Deanna Kipp and husband, Daniel, of Felton, Pa., and Allen Walker II and wife, Candace, of Bel Air, hosted the party.

A Laurel man was being held without bail yesterday, charged with firing the bullet that strayed into Barbara Walker's home in Severn and wounded her and another woman.Astrel Jacques, 25, of the 14000 block of Chapel Cove Court was charged with assault with intent to murder and a handgun violation.Ms. Walker, 53, of the 8500 block of Pioneer Drive was released after treatment at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The bullet passed through her shoulder and struck a neighbor, Magdalene Davis, 38, in the head before it landed in a sofa.

Claybrook Francis Jackson, a baker who prepared sweets and pastries, died of a heart attack May 28 while walking on Laurens Street in West Baltimore. The Sandtown-Winchester resident was 61. Born in Baltimore and raised in Sandtown-Winchester, he attended Booker T. Washington Junior High School and Frederick Douglass High School. He served in the Army in Germany, then worked at Catonsville Bakery and Pariser's Bakery on Reisterstown Road, making doughnuts, cakes and buns. He attended Gillis Memorial Christian Community Church.
