Baltimore County police have arrested two Baltimore men in connection with a double shooting in Catonsville on Monday that left one man dead and another wounded. Jordan Nathaniel Jackson, 20, and Christopher Andre Williams, 30, were charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, police said. They are being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center. No lawyers were listed for either man in electronic court records. About 6 p.m. Monday, a police officer heard gunshots near Johnnycake Road and Upper Mills Circle and found a man nearby who had been shot.

Baltimore Gas & Electric Co. customers can get up to $50 per household by recycling old air conditioning units this weekend. BGE will mail checks for $25 per working unit dropped off, up to two units per household. Drop-off will be in the parking lots of Sears at 7839 Eastpoint Mall in Dundalk or of h.h. gregg at 6026 Baltimore National Pike in Catonsville. Hours for the drop-off are 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Last year's inaugural recycling event collected more than 400 old units, which in addition to saving electricity removed more than 1,600 pounds of plastic and 30,000 pounds of metal from landfills.

A 39-year-old woman died Saturday of injuries she suffered three months ago when struck by a car in Catonsville, Baltimore County police said Sunday. Laurie Ann Smith of the 2500 block of W.Pratt St.was struck and pinned against a wall by a Honda Odyssey driven by Andrew Dolbey, 42, on Dec. 23, police said. Dolbey, of the 7100 block of Ducketts Lane in Elkridge, was heading west on Rolling Road and attempting to turn left onto Baltimore National Pike when he lost control of his car, drove over a curb and struck Smith, police said.

A 17-year-old girl died after she was struck by a car on Route 40 in Catonsville Sunday night, Baltimore County police said. Sahara Malishan, of the 900 block of Wildwood Parkway in Baltimore was hit by a Mazda 6 headed east on the 6400 block of Baltimore National Pike just before 10:30 p.m. Malishan was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver, a 62-year-old man, remained at the scene, police said. No citations have been issued and the crash remains under investigation.

As of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, traffic was slow on the outer loop of I-695 near the Baltimore National Pike, due to an accident. Accidents were slowing traffic on the outer loop of I-695 near Falls Road in Baltimore County, Route 97 near Route 140 in Westminster, I-95 southbound near White Marsh Boulevard in Baltimore County, Route 40 near Red Toad Road in Harford County and Route 30 and the Hampstead Bypass in Hampstead. A disabled vehicle was slowing traffic on the outer loop of I-695 near Liberty Road.

Sears' store in Ellicott City is slated to be closed. The retailer announced the names of 79 stores set to be closed. Another 41 Sears and Kmart stores could be closed.  One Maryland store at 9200 Baltimore National Pike made the list.  Sears Holding Corp. did not give a date for the closure. The retailer recently announced it was closing up to 120 Sears and Kmart stores after disappointing holiday sales.
