A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car on Pulaski Highway in Middle River Saturday night, Baltimore County police said. Baltimore County police and fire personnel responded to Pulaski Highway and Holly Drive at 6:56 p.m. for a report that a pedestrian that had been struck by a car, police said. Police said an adult female was standing on Pulaski Highway (Route 40) when she was struck by a Ford F150. She was pronounced dead while being transported to Franklin Square Hospital.

A Baltimore County resident died early Saturday morning after he was shot Friday night at an Owings Mills apartment complex, police said today. According to Baltimore County Police Lt. Robert McCullough, the shooting took place at 63 Straw Hat Road in the Morningside Apartments. The victim was Moses Baker, 22, a resident of an apartment at that address. According to McCullough, officers responded to a call at 11:07 p.m. Friday and found the victim lying just inside his apartment, shot in the upper body.

Capt. Douglas Irwin, a Carroll County native and a 20-year police veteran who has spent the past 10 months as commander of the Baltimore County Police Department's Internal Affairs Division, was recently assigned to be the new commander of that county's Wilkens Precinct, which oversees the areas of Catonsville and Arbutus. A graduate of Liberty High School, in Eldersburg, the Community College of Baltimore County and University of Maryland, Irwin decided to apply to the Baltimore County Police after hearing about its good reputation.

In Baltimore County Police cable TV show offers safe-shopping tips TOWSON - The current edition of the Baltimore County Police Department's cable program, Police Report, features holiday shopping safety tips and a profile of the White Marsh Precinct. Guests on the program, which runs through Dec. 5, include Capt. Lee Russo, commander of the White Marsh Precinct; Lt. Bill Duty, the precinct's assistant commander; and Officer Marti Franklin-Motton, a member of the Community Outreach Team in the Garrison Precinct.

An Orlando, Fla., publisher has offered a $10,000 reward in connection with the Sept. 17 slaying of a Philadelphia woman at a motel in the Westview section of Baltimore County.Valerie Brown, 30, was killed in an apparent robbery attempt as she was about to enter the motel in the 5800 block of Baltimore National Pike, police said.Brown, who was based in Philadelphia, was a senior sales representative for Holt, Rinehart and Winston Inc., a subsidiary of Harcourt Brace Jovanovich Inc., publishers, which is offering the reward.

The Baltimore County Police Department today will honor officers who have been killed in the line of duty, officials said. The seven officers from the department who have been killed in the line of duty are: Officer Edward Kuznar, Officer Charles Huckeba, Officer Robert Zimmerman, Officer John Stem, Cpl. Samuel Snyder, Sgt. Bruce Prothero and Sgt. Mark Parry. The memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Towson Courthouse Plaza, 401 Bosley Ave. In the event of inclement weather, the service would be moved to the Potomac Lounge in the University Union building at Towson University, county police said.

A delegation of police officers and government officials from Argentina visited the Baltimore County Police Department yesterday to learn about U.S. law enforcement, from working with police dogs to community patrols.The 30-member group is on a two-week program in the United States to learn about the operations of a police force in a democracy. After a briefing on community policing, the group toured the White Marsh Precinct and saw demonstrations by the department's tactical and police dog units.

A group of teen-agers accosted a 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle Wednesday evening, taking his bike -- and leaving him with theirs."They robbed up, as it were," said Bill Toohey, a spokesman for the Baltimore County Police Department.The robbery, which occurred about 7: 30 p.m. along Rolling Road near Interstate 70, left the boy without his black Murray bike valued at $125. Police were unable to say yesterday what kind of bike he was left with, but did note that the crime was not unusual.

A 17-year-old Baltimore youth died and a second youth was seriously injured in a shooting early yesterday in front of a house in the first block of Dundalk Ave., Baltimore County police said.Police knew of no motive for the shooting -- the county's 23rd homicide this year -- of James Darnell Oakley of the first block of N. Port St. The teen died of multiple gunshot wounds.Neighbors reported hearing shots about 12: 30 a.m. and called police, said Cpl. Vickie Warehime of the Baltimore County Police Department.
