Ronnie Simmons scored in the 77th minute last night to give the Baltimore Bays a 1-0 win over the New York Capital District Alleycats in a D-3 Pro League game.Simmons settled the ball after Dan Santoro's shot off the post and beat goalie Yon Struble.The victory moved the Bays (8-6) into second place in the Mid-Atlantic Division.Pub Date: 7/04/97

The Baltimore Bays have signed two former members of the Washington Warthogs -- goalkeeper Dave Tenney and defender Bill Harte.The players, who helped the Warthogs advance to the Continental Indoor Soccer League conference finals, will play for the Bays in their United States Interregional Soccer League season opener, a road game Nov. 5 against the Atlanta Magic.Ex-Blast standout Franklin McIntosh has just signed with Atlanta.

DETROIT -- Jeff Stroud scored the game-winner with 1:02 left, assisted by Brian Marshall, to lift the Baltimore Bays (3-7) to a 4-3 win over the Detroit Wheels (1-8) in a U.S. Interregional Soccer League game last night.Baltimore took a 3-1 halftime advantage on goals by Adam Dodge, Derrick Marcano and Tarik Walker, his eighth of the season. Joe Malachino scored all three Detroit goals.

TULSA, Okla. -- Denison Cabral scored five goals to lead the Baltimore Bays to a 10-8 win over the Atlanta Magic, capturing the USISL championship. Cabral, who scored 13 goals in the tournament, was named both the tournament and league MVP.Bays goalkeeper Matt St. Jean, who made 12 saves in the championship game, was named to the all-tournament team. The league also announced the Bays' Kevin Healey as its Coach of the Year.

PHILADELPHIA -- Steve Wink, Steve Thomas and Justin Ceccareli each scored a goal, helping the Philadelphia Freedom to a 3-0 victory over the Baltimore Bays in a U.S. Interregionall Soccer League game last night.The Bays (1-4), playing their for the first time since May 7, had 10 shots on goal. Philadelphia (2-4) had 14 opportunities.At the 25-minute mark of the first half, Wink converted a pass from Paul Moylan into a score.

The Baltimore Bays will play their 92nd professional outdoor ++ soccer game -- a record for this area -- when they meet the New York Alleycats tonight at 8 at UMBC.The Bays, who are in third place in the D3 Pro League, are in their fifth season in Baltimore and will surpass the record for longevity set by the old Maryland Bays, who played 91 games from 1987 to 1991.Tickets for tonight's game are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and children under 15. FAIRFAX, Va. -- Steve Nichols scored off an assist from Joe Koziol two minutes into overtime to lead the Baltimore Bays (2-4) past the Washington Mustangs, 2-1, in a USISL game at Washington & Lee High School yesterday.The Bays scored first when Mark Mettrick scored at 18:00 of the first half on a penalty kick. The Mustangs tied the score with 41 seconds left in regulation, as Jose Valencia scored on Bays goalie Scoop Stanisic (7 saves).

Three players had hat tricks last night as the Baltimore Bays ran their winning streak to 28 games with a 20-3 victory over the Virginia Kickers in an I-League game at Du Burns Arena. Jason Dieter led the Bays (5-0) with three goals and four assists. Billy Ronson and Roberto Ascenzi each scored three goals, and Ronson had two assists. GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Jason Haupt and Matt Murphy each scored a goal as the Greensboro Dynamo defeated the Baltimore Bays, 2-0, last night in a U.S. Interregional Soccer League Atlantic Division game.Haupt opened the scoring for Greensboro (12-2) with his 11th goal of the season at the 15-minute mark of the first half, with Jimmy Coleman getting an assist on the play.In the 48th minute, Murphy scored an unassisted goal, sealing the loss for the Bays (5-11).
